So among the most dumb ass untrue things I've heard about this set, it adds nothing to the story but people in cowboy hats for example, is that many of the Commanders in it are unplayable. I also heard there was no Spree Commander and you know I actually believed that was the case.
Until I studied the newest Riku closer and realized he was the one. Riku wants you to cast modal spells (which for you new folk to MTG that means 'select a number/any number of modes) and Sprees are what? That's right Modal, Modal as all hell and while playing Temur means you don't get as much value some of the strongest are for sure in in blue alone. Now I will give you Riku doesn't present too much of a threat there are many, many ways to leverage the little he does but mostly you should be happy as he's a Temur Commander nobody will rush to kill right away and you can take advantage of that misjudgement. Namely you have t decide something: is Riku your budget Volo, Guide to Monsters giving you tokens you can mutate/transform into things? Or are you trying to just cast a bunch of spells for fun and just use the Birds to block? If it's the former maybe consider adding Echoing Equation and Douplegang to this deck. You can sure as hell produce the mana easily enough with all the green. If it's the latter consider if you want to maybe think about Tremors or some kind of strategy there. As it is this is just adjusted for Arena and I wil be building another for Commander maybe based around every bird token commander for my own personal amusement. Additionally you can also do what I did for Arena and toss in some good stuff from Izzet Wizards. I forgot to talk about them. Now have fun or don't I'm sign not a cop.
