RB Zombies is an Aggro deck that can outpace many other Aggro decks and close quick enough against a control matchup on a consistant Turn 4 or 5.
This deck, while aggro focused and having an amazing Curve is very reaction based as well utilizing Heartfire
and Costly Plunder
targetting many items of value from our deck in response to removals or exiles. We can Target Dreadhorde Butcher
to give us an extra large burst to close out a match quickly, or utilize him for larger board clearing if needed (Including Planeswalkers). This makes sure that we will continue to have access to The Butcher in our graveyard for games that go long enough to fully utilize Eternal Taskmaster
.
Dreadhorde Butcher gives us an extension to the life of all of the spells in our deck very handily given our 7 Lords ( Judith, the Scourge Diva
and Death Baron
) we are running that both allow him access to 2 Mana cost spells in Lightning Strike
, Heartfire and Costly Plunder and always having access to our Shock
.
Grim Initiate
is a great Turn 1 Drop for us and provides value throughout its life given the Amass ability.
Lazotep Reaver
allows us the ability to go wide if needed and gives us more bodies on the board
Eternal Taskmaster This card has been good as a 2 of and allows our late game matchups to thrive when needed.
Midnight Reaper
This card has been a great 2 of and is just there for a Body and Card Draw. (Oh that's right, he's a Zombie Too)
God-Eternal Bontu
I've been testing this guy out in this deck, but He Hasn't found his own in it yet or is needed at all.
Blast Zone
This card allows us to take care of instances of Ixalan Binding and many other similar instances. With the Ability of our deck being very reactionary as well as Aggro we tend to have open mana and can easily get this up to 4 Counters when needed. I currently have this as a 2 of and have not ran into mana issues with it being as such, but I could see the use as only a 1 of.
Ideal Turn
Turn 1: Land, Grim Initiate
Turn 2: Land, Dreadhorde Butcher
Turn 3: Land, Judith, the Scourge Diva or Death Baron
Turn 4: Literally anything here you've already won the game.
I have grinded this deck into Mythic, it is here to stay.
Magic veteran with 20+ years of experience dating back to Stronghold, and competitively playing for 10+ Years on and off. Primarily a UB Control Player that understands the importance of goin sideways when needed and a Streamer on Twitch.
