10 Non Oko Decks that can Save Standard

Arena Standard Decklists
By: Gapollard1 - 28 Oct 2019

Believe it or Not, it is Possible to Play a Non Oko Deck

For those wondering if the Standard meta would be healthier after the Field of the Dead ban, based on the results from the Mythic Championship qualifier it appears the answer is no. Heading into day 2 of the tournament, 67% of the decks ran Oko, which trounces the 40% FotD meta. Additionally, there were more copies of Breeding Pools run than Mountains, Swamps and Plains combined. However, since this tournament was only two days after FotD actually became banned on Arena, I still have hope. Here is 10 non-Oko decks that could save standard

This deck was heavily inspired by a video from YouTuber MonoBlackMagic, with the addition of Ajani and two Gilded Goose. While on the surface this deck may seem similar to Selesnya Adventure lists you may have seen before, it changes dramatically by adding in Neoformimage, Callous Dismissalimage and the top end of Harmonious Archonimage. Essentially, this deck goes wide with cheap creatures, buffs them with Venerated Loxodonimage, and then you can Neoform the Loxodon into Archon to give yourself a massive board state. Archon makes all your small creatures, like the callous dismissal token for example, into huge board threats, allowing you to very quickly overwhelm your opponent. Also, you can Neoform a token to get an Edgewall Innkeeperimage out if you need to fix your engine in a pinch.

This deck made the top 16 list of the Mythic Championship Qualifier, and wins by ramping into a massive Expansion/Explosion. Since much less people are playing T3feri recently, it is much more likely that your instant spells will not be shut off, allowing Wilderness Reclamation to go unhindered.

This deck comes to you from EDMVyrus, the same guy who was the only player piloting Rakdos Sacrifice in the last Mythic Championship. A traditional control deck that counters your spells in the early game, and then cleans up what your opponent managed to get out on the battlefield in the end game with Mass Manipulationimage, Time Wipeimage and Agent of Treacheryimage. This deck seems well placed against many of the creature focused simic builds, and stealing a large Hydroid Krasis can feel pretty good!

A really cool deck that was originally designed to take advantage of Field of the Dead, but still has a lot of potential. The deck wins by controlling your opponent untill you can build a large enough mana base, and then you can go off for some crazy one turn wins with Bolas's Citadelimage and Edgewall Innkeeperimage to get a massive Smitten Swordmasterimage Combo off.
