Description

Samut, Vizier of Naktamun joins the forces of a red aggro deck and brings the power of Boseiju with him.

image image

Introduction

This is a red aggro deck splashing green for Samut, Vizier of Naktamunimage. It deploys Thundering Raijuimage as a top-end creature, which goes well together with the land count of 24 lands. The Raiju can boost Samut, making his first strike ability more dangerous. Green color also opens up a way for enchantment removal, such as Boseiju, Who Enduresimage.

The deck features a slightly higher mana curve than a traditional red aggro deck, aiming at providing a more consistent playing experience and alternative paths to victory aside from an explosive start.

Format

  • The deck is for the Standard format, as of October 2023, with Wilds of Eldraine being the last legal set.
  • The deck is probably Tier 1 or Tier 1.5 caliber.
  • The deck can be played in both Bo1 and Bo3.
  • The deck is pretty fast, and thus it's suitable for quickly grinding a large number of wins in the MTG Arena ladder.

Price on MTG Arena

The price is based on the wildcard bundle prices: $9.99 for 4 rare wildcards and $19.99 for 4 mythic rare wildcards. Uncommons and commons are counted as being free.

  • Main Deck: $102.42

Strategy

Samut and Squee

image image

The tokens generated by Squee trigger the card drawing ability of Samut, which makes up a nice combo.

Samut and Sokenzan

image image

The tokens created by Sokenzan also trigger the card drawing ability of Samut, turning the channel land into a potential "draw two cards" effect.

Squee and Witchstalker Frenzy

Squee tokens help to bring the mana cost of Witchstalker Frenzy down.
