Description

Hello there!

First of all, shout-out to Amazonian and her Brawl Stars series, during these social isolation times.

It was her initial creation that provided the base and inspiration to finally decide to play one of my favorite Planeswalkers, and as a Fun bonus co-op with her as my centerpiece Brawl Commander.

You can find the link to Amy's channel through her Youtube Kaya video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAGnUG3tEvI&t=11s

Let's dive in:

The current decklist is Control oriented, trying to grind out the resources of our opponents in a relatively slow and steady pace.

The Discard theme throughout the CmCs helps a lot our Targeted removals during every phase of the game and all the Mass removals are here to open the way to cast our higher cost Planewalkers safely. Kaya herself can be used as a shield both for our health pool by exiling creatures from graveyards (have fun exiling all the Escape Commanders by the way) alongside our other spells by being a sacrificial lamb, casted to absorb counters and removal spells since her own casting cost is not really high even with commander tax added.

Arcane Signetimage and Orzhov Locketimage as Ramp are necessary for the deck, as the rest of the ramp spells that Orzhov have access to during the current standard are not really providing any real support when in the battlefield; Orzhov Locketimage also being able to turn to Draw 2 during Late Game is a bonus. Scry and Surveil Effects from a handful of our other permanents are providing an extra boost over the control of our deck's top.

Stonecoil Serpentimage, Archon of Sun's Graceimage, Seraph of the Scalesimage, Realm-Cloaked Giantimage and God-Eternal Bontuimage are the heavy hitters of the deck, that will try to seal the win. God-Eternal Bontuimage is there to absorb blocks and removals, so don't be afraid to cast her even for 0 Sacrifices. Stonecoil Serpentimage scales according to the amount of mana we pour in it, thus it's an excellent early blocker as well as a hard finisher with Trample and Protection from Multicolored.

The Orzhov colour pairing lacks some hard finishers right now (in the scale of Dream Trawlerimage), and is not doing incredibly well in terms of card draw and ramp overall, up until Theros Standard at least; don't expect fair winrate against the current "Competitive" lists like Niv-Mizzet Rebornimage, with constant hand refill or Kiora, Behemoth Beckonerimage, with constant draw and land cheat or Teferi, Time Ravelerimage, with his Counter-Tribal theme a.o.

This deck is mainly for a fun oriented experience and a decision making exercise against the dominant archetypes; fine-tuning can be applied.

Until the next time, have fun with your games!
