MY NOVEMBER 2024 MARKET PICKS

Welcome everyone to the end of the month MTG Game State recap! In this article I go over all of the cards featured on the segment and see where they currently are in pricing as well as inform the reader on why I choose the card, let's see what we got!

1.Blade of the Bloodchief
image

25 Nov 2024
 Average Listing $12.34

Market Listing $11.75

When we last saw this card it was a new hitter from an old face, average listing was 12 bucks with the market listing at 11. We are seeing this card used as a piece in modern decks like Eldrazi Tron in this archtype you want to equip blade onto Basking Broodscaleimage to get an infinite combo of Eldrazi spawn tokens that you can sacrafice to the blade for a big stompy common Eldrazi card and get your Walking Ballistaimage or Glaring Fleshrakerimage to pop off...

2. Archfiend of the Dross

27 Nov 2024
 Average $6.00

Market $5.74

Gaining notoriorty along with Unholy Annex // Ritual Chamberimage by Javier Dominguez from Magic World Championship 30 with his Dimir Demons deck. While Archfiend's middle text is a huge drawback you'll likely be ending the game with big 6/6 flying demons from your rooms before you remove the last oil counter and Unholy Annex will keep you loaded with cards and health while also providing ping damage to pressure your opponents. We are currently seeing a color shift with Archfiend now in Rakdos standard builds

3. Hissing Miasma
image

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $1.70

Market Listing $4.78

Hissing Miasma is one of those cards where you look at it and think "yea this is a commander banger". Nothing too impressive for 1 generic mana and 2 swamp pips but it is an enchantment, punishes attacking aggro decks with big token swingers and can possibly hit some combo where you need opponents to lose life. Average listings are cheap but the market is getting ahead of the curve and listing high, almost rounding up to $5.00!

4. Burst Lightning (WPN PROMO)

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $14.77

Market Listing $7.77

Burst lightning is a vanilla card that's standard legal as of November 2024. A typical burn spell you'd run in any aggro deck, but on MTG game state we have historically pointed out cards that command higher than usual premium prices. Full art cards pre 2018 or anything Magic player rewards promos are one of those criteria. only available in foil in this printing market purchasing at 7 bucks but listing on TCG player for close to $15.00. You can pick up cheap non foil The List versions as well for about $3.00 (if you're lucky but as of 11/27/2024 we're seeing an average listing of $20.00 but only 1 card is listed!!) another print that is a double whammy; premium card, and it's the list (a set within a magic set)

5. Tempt with Bunnies

image

29 Nov 2024
Average Listing $8.10

Market Listing 8.34

Tempt with bunnies is a new commander card from the Bloomburrow precon; Peace Offering. The deck is a group hug build but we're more focused on the single cards from that precon, specifically a new card in the "Tempt with X" cycle which uses a mechanic called "Tempting Offer" that gives your opponents a choice to help their board state and draw a card with a twist of you getting an extra bonus for each opponents decsion.

Bunnies is good because 1. cute bunnies for everyone! & 2. draw cards, get tokens!! (doubling season time baybeee!!) deff a card I am sounding thee alarm on for anyone who jams commander in white, needs draw power and/or has token shenanigans. We are seeing the card slowly rise up to 8 bucks and some change with time on this cards side to determine if it will lock in at $9-$10 or fall flat to $2.00 with more reprints in it's future..

6. Prismatic Vista

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $29.41

Market Listing $28.30

What else am I to say about one of the best land cards in the 60 card formats and from my favorite set! (insert huge bias now) Prismatic Vista is a great card for searching for basic lands and having them enter UNTAPPED!! basically a pain search land its good for early ramp/color fixing. Currently we see this card jammed in Modern decks like Eldrazi Tron & Legacy decks like Food chain or Taxes builds. This card isnt going to be decreasing in price anytime soon as it's hitting those sweet sweet check boxes I like to see in a card 1. used in 60 card formats specifcailly Legacy 2. reprinted in premium sets/versions. Historically we have seen when you have cards check off those markers they tend to hold their price and relevancy. Don't sleep on getting as play set for at least $120!!

7. Archmage Emeritus

26 Nov 2024
 Average $4.85
Market $5.66

Archmage Emeritus was actually a card I had chosen to highlight on the youtube segment for a specific reason. In my discord we were jamming a game of commander through Spelltable, a discord member was playing Izzet with Niv Mizzet visionary as his commander. They also played Archmage which helped them draw from any of their cheap burn spells or copied spells. With Niv on the board this was a really fun interaction to see, they had gotten an extra draw on top of the cards Niv's ability drew them into when they played a burn spell. This is another card where I gotta sound thee alarm on making sure everyone has a copy of the card. coming up to a listing of $6.00 the market is trying to buy as cheap as it can, dont miss out!

8. Hammer of Nazahn

image

 *25 Nov 2024
Average Listing *$13.88 ($15.00 29 Nov 2024)

Market Listing $13.61

Hammer of Nazahn is a card I actually own and have had for quite a long time (in my head anyone in MTG world pre 2018 has been in the game for a LONG time) and while the past seems lightyears away today than ever before there was a time when this was a cheap commander 2017 single and equipments were mediocre. What's funny is in 2020 this card saw a dramatic increase to $30.00, I believe it was because the market realised at the time the card is good in Voltron EDH builds, was from the 2017 precon product which was slept on at the time PLUS more banging equipment cards dropped making Hammer a must have. Today it sits at a chill $14.00 but it is hitting those sweet sweet check boxes of being reprinted in premium sets as well as a debut in an older Precon set.

9. Inventory Management

29 Nov 2024
Average Listing $4.30

Market Listing $3.74

Universes Beyond has shaken up all aspects of MTG from every direction! However ya feel about it is how ever ya feel about it! I it get trust....BUUUUUT when I first saw Inventory management from the Fall out collab I fell in love (if ya dont know artifact equipment are my fave!!) this seems like its a fun combat trick with the added bonus of split second, that must be a flavor reference to looking thru your inventory in the Fall out games and the gameplay pauses while ya peruse your wares. It was in a premium set for the UB Commander precons and wont see a reprint for who knows when! I expect this card to hover close to $5.00 until the color set sees it as a staple in casual commander play.

10. Bureau Headmaster

image

29 Nov 2024
Average Listing $3.13

Market Listing $2.87

Another Universes Beyond potential shake up to the Boros color set, Bureau Headmaster was a card similar to Inventory Managementimage where once i saw it I knew it had to get thrown into my Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvaleimage deck!! while we are locked down to 2 colors the benefits really make me ignore such a minor drawback. 1 less on equipping creatures is huge and stacks with some other cards in a voltron deck with similar abilites. it's a card where we will see some potential to grow even just being universe Beyond: Assassian's Creed on its own regardless of effects.

11. Neyith of the Dire Hunt

image
( good in wolveriene )

27 Nov 2024
 Average $16.42

Market $16.13

Another highkey favorite card of mine that I had jammed into my werewolf commander build at one time WolfyDeck-720027 We say it all the time but those check boxes are important to why you want to buy a card for your collection/deck strat. Some cards are expensive for 0 reason other times they hold value because of their utility or history. Neyith is a card that was printed in a premium set (first jumpstart is premium do not @ me, scalpers you know what you did!..) and only has one printing. Now that can easily change with a secret lair but we are seeing the card truly spike not so much as my imaginary check box system but for the spec on its use with Wolvereine, Best there is using Neyith on Wolvy goes dummy hard and that my friends is what we call VALUE. She is strong asf on her own in the right builds, is another Xenagos, God of Revelsimage and Wolverine having a controversial price point only up's Neyith's.

12. Rite of Consumption

image

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $2.87

Market Listing $4.98

Rite of Consumption is (he's gonna say the line again..) a card that hits the check boxes, this time it's from the Lorwyn block, which tends to have cards have higher prices due to lower demand of cards around and it has an alternate casting cost thats a great sac outlet to trigger off effects. The main point of the card's upside for commander really comes from its actual effect, Pinging our opponent or their planeswalkers for damage and then gaining life. This helps if you got some big power to risk for some 1 shot glass cannon hits to an opponents health.

13. Xenagos, God of Revels

29 Nov 2024
Average Listing $14.01

Market Listing $14.46

Xenagos is a card we all know and love. His lore is pretty cool and it was also a card I first pulled when I started MTG so it has a space in my heart. The Ixalan precon card is starting to match it's SLD price point on the market! We see this card used in 60 card formats and pullling off a funny board state in Izzet with worldpsine worm piloted by Reid Duke

 14. Screaming Nemesis

image

29 Nov 2024
Average Listing $36.55

Market Listing $34.31

Screaming Nemisis currently commands a high price as of the writing of this article, currently in standard, a must add in the meta standard aggro red decks and an all around wild card that can shut down your opponents life gain strats. It's ability turns heads and makes you wanna cry! This is the chase card for Duskmourn: House of Horror if you can find this card for your paper standard deck under $30.00 you're a real one!

15. Serpent of Yawning Depths

image

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $9.65

Market Listing $10.29

Serpent of Yawning Depths is a card I am sounding thee alarm on! It's hitting some check boxes (10 dollar card on a modern day set that is worth holding down, effects specific creatures types) and it's ability concerns a few favorite creature types of mine! The card is orginally printed in the return to Theros set and it's setting a pretty high price point for a nieche card more than likely because it has a SLD print to match it's price. Id say it only would be good for fun commander brews.

16. Mana Crypt (Double Masters)

25 Nov 2024
Average Listing $79.98

Market Listing $61.70

Say whatever you want, Mana Crypt is still a heavy hitter card. Now I know it's banned in the all mighty Commander format and Legacy but guys, MTG is more than just the 99 singleton formats and Legacy!! We have perfectly good 60 card formats like Vintage at home!!! The double masters print is the card's cheapest version while the premium prints are still commanding high prices. Mana Crypt isn't going to go down any time soon but it really only has limited play in Vintage and hardly any use anywhere else. The card hit's our yet to be trademarked imaginary checkboxes, 1. It has lore, 2. it's reprinted in super premium sets.

That's all of the card's featured from November's MTG Game State
Check back at the end of December for another follow up article from the month's market picks.
