After playing a budget version of izzet drakes for a while on arena I'v come to enjoy the deck so here is my deep dive into a more competitive list. Using the new dominaria cards. Which only gave us Haughty Djinn
. But boy howdy is that a great addition.
The reason the deck is 62 cards is I like having the extra 2 cards it dosent affect the stats to much and like 99% of the time I have a super hard time cutting those last 2 cards.
In this list iv removed crackling drake completely in favor for Haughty djinn As its 1 mana less and reduces the cost of our spells. We get value from this by running Frantic Inventory
which can very quickly turn into a 1 mana draw 3.
Cards you can add if you find you dont like a pick i have made
Beacon Bolt
I personally really wanted to fit it into this list i tried really hard but its not worth it IMO
Shore Up
different version of Dive Down
Otherworldly Gaze
a good card lets you dump a lot in your grave I personally would rather a draw cantrip or something
Spikefield Hazard
good removal early or a land if you need it. I dont feel its fast enough for how i like to play
Cinderclasm
Board wipe good against swarm decks or those pesky flying decks but IMHO you have enough tools to deal with most decks
Abrade
destroy a 3 toughness or less creature or artifact not to bad. I just have felt a need for artifact destro lately
