Add at least 100 different cards to your collection and set it as your Compare Collection on the manage page to see what cards from this deck you are missing.
Compare your MTG Arena Collection with AetherHub decklists or any other decks found on the web with the MTGA Assistant extension. Syncing your account will automatically upload your collection so you can see what cards you are missing right here.
Learn more Download For WindowsCulling is pretty nutty vs the meta right now. It's amazing vs weenie, enchant, rakdos, and pretty good vs orzhov. It clears bankbusters, ranger classes, paladin classes, circle of confinements etc that black has trouble removing. Where it isn't strong is vs control, so if you're seeing a lot of superfriends decks(kudos to the person who made a 6 planeswalker deck work!) or UR pull it and add bankbusters in the main deck.
Blade of the Oni is a pretty damn good deterrent against attacks at 2 mana, and it'll turn your tokens into 5/5 menace demons that get to keep reach or lifelink. It also activates Soul Transfer.
Dig Up is amazing later in matchups, but I dont want it in my opening hand, hence the two copies.
Ahh, the turtle. 3 mana instant speed graveyard tutor. Colossal Skyturtle is just superior to Gloomshrieker.
March of Wretched Sorrow might be the best single target removal in standard right now. The fact that you can mana dump into it to gain life at instant speed simply crushes a lot of matchups.
Invoke Despair: Deal 6 damage, draw 3 cards for 5 mana. Yes, please!! It also is an amazing followup to a culling to remove the rest of the board. Culling enchant decks and snag their Hollowed Haunting with it. Weak against a busy board.
Treasure Vault serves as an artifact for soul transfer, and is a mana dump for treasure. It's nice in longer games to be able to Shigeki for 5+ cards, or March for 10+ damage.
So you've probably noticed there's no Deadly Dispute, no Shambling Ghast, no Prosperous Innkeeper. I'd rather have early removal, and draw late. Shigeki, Jukai Visionary ramps you early while chump blocking, and can tutor your instants, sorceries, and turtles from the graveyard later. The most efficient way to draw for black late is Planeswalkers. All 3 interact with the board or draw as they come in.
So I've been having good success with this in Bo1, and trying it out in Traditional. The sideboard is a bit jank right now, but functional. Sarulf, Realm Eater is an interesting creature and trouble for lots of decks if not removed immediately.
Have fun!
