I've long wanted to build a deck around my favourite Angel Horrors. I know that it would probably be easier to build around Gisela, the Broken Blade
, since she is cheaper mana-wise, but I decided to go for Bruna, the Fading Light
as my Commander and work with her graveyard recursion theme. There are a lot of cards of all types in this deck to get things back from your graveyard, and even a Pull from Eternity
to retrieve Gisela, should I become the victim of graveyard hate.
Since this deck is very, very mana-heavy, there is far more ramp than I would ordinarily play. As usual, there are a couple of cards here that count as "shenanigans" or flavour cards: Eldrazi Conscription
feels like a fitting aura for such a commander, while Moonsilver Spear
is just a fun way to have yet more angels fluttering around. Approach of the Second Sun
is a gimmick, but it can sometimes put fear in the hearts of opponents. Finally, there is a combo opportunity when Altar of Dementia
is combined with Fiend Hunter
and for example Sun Titan
.
