After having little success with the dimir control shells, I decided to test out this list that is more dedicated to milling your opponent and taking advantage of their graveyard with cards like drown the loch. You get a T1 payoff with Merfolk secret keeper who can come back as a blocker against red decks. This powers up your drown the loch to counter whatever 3-4 drops your opponent is looking to slam. I've also started using Didnt Say Please in lieu of the surveil counter: I find that between the temples and Thought Erasure I was surveiling twice a turn, often with no payoff. Say Please can ruin your opponents draw if they use the temple before casting on their turn as well; if you see they've put something on top of their library, use Say Please instead of Drown the Loch and dump whatever they needed into their graveyard. Of course Ashiok and Lilianna are great finishers. Still unsure about brazen borrowers; sometimes the early threat is great but other times you really need another chump blocker, but it's really nice to be able to bounce an enchantment or artifact (Clover, Trail of Crumbs, etc.) to counter later as we don't have any removal for those card types.
Update: swapped Thassa's out for Into the story (more opp graveyard advantage). May want to sideboard Tymaret to exile Uro/Cats. Swapped a rider for Cavalier of night (same idea, but better stats and lifelink)
