Description

The initial pass of this deck is contrstructed from the 2024 Starter Collection, Jump In packs and C/U from WOE. It is a RDW style, balancing creatures and spells. If you are missing any of these cards, I recommend just filling in from your existing collection, rather than spending wildcards too soon.

2022 Standard

Kumano Faces Kakkazan is a Standard staple, and will likely continue to see play in Explorer after teh next rotation. Sadly, third year Standard sets are difficult for new players to access. They require a Premier draft of Kamagawa Neon Dynasty, or a wild card, and while few cards are worth it, I expect this one is.

Typically, I would not recommend crafting a direct damage spell, as every set will fill this roll in some way and one is often as good as a nother. Play with Fire is worth some consideration as it can hit any target, and offers a Scry optionm. Card selection in budget red decks is often limited.

2023 Standard

These represent obviose paths to upgrade the creature base. Keep in mind, you may have several opportunities over teh course of the year to acquire copies without using wildcards. Quick Drafting, discounted Packs, and Uncommon ICRs are all options. Khans of Tarkir is expected to re-release on Arena in December of 2024, and will include Monastery Swiftspear. This will most likely be a direct to eternal release, meaning no Mastery Path, or Quick Draft. We may see 3 Free Packs, but Premier Draft Tokens will be your best point of access.

Eternal Top Upgrades

Uncommon

Mono Red is a ubiquitous deck in nearly every format, and this is some of the low-hanging upgrades for eternal formats. Add a few wildcards at a time. Craft a copy, and see how it works before crafting all 4.

Spikefield hazard simply replaces a basic land, and offers another damage spell. Often on 1-2 are needed in your collection.

Light Up the Stage is one of the best budget "draw" spells in Red available on Arena. A couple of copies is enough for many lists, but some will want as many as 4.

Burning-Tree Emissary is perharps the best non-haste creature for a red rush deck, and it's flexible casting cost makes it playable in a wider variety of decks. You will almost certainly want four copies of this eventually.
