Description

Simic Flash 2.0 is an updated version of Simic flash for Ikoria Standard Meta.  The deck includes the addition of Mutate creatures that make the deck even more powerful.  The mutate creatures add effects such as bounce and card draw which every control deck loves.

We still have the staples in the deck as well with the Spectral Pirate, Nightpack Ambusher, and Frilled mystics.  The new cards include the Sea-Dasher octopus, Pouncing ShoreShark, GemRazer and the most important new addition Cunning Nightbonder.  Cunning Nightbonder makes all of our flash spells uncounterable.  This helps with the matchup against other control decks immensely.

The deck still plays the same with us wanting to maximize our spells on our opponents control.  While holding up counter magic for their most important spells.  One thing to note the Cunning Nightbonders CAN NOT be mutated they're the only creature in the deck that can't.  Your best thing to mutate is the Spectral Pirate which has flying.  The best thing to mutate them with is the Sea-Dasher octopus.  This helps you get more card draw which allows you to control the board even more.

Nightpack Ambusher is still the decks main wincon with it's ability to make wolf tokens that get bigger with each Ambusher on the field as well as produces more tokens for each Ambusher.  You can mutate the wolf tokens with GemRazer and Pouncing Shoreshark to make them even bigger beaters.

I opted to go with Pouncing Shoreshark over Brazen Borrowers because they are larger than the borrowers cost 1 more mana to cast and I can still give them flying by mutating my Spectral Pirates.  They're also 1 mana cheaper then casting Brazen Borrowers.  To use the bounce spell on a Borrower then cast it as a creature cost 5 mana for a 3/1.  We get the same effect for 4 mana and a 4/3 instead.

Gemrazers help destroy artifacts or enchantments as well as provide a beefy body for smashing our opponents face.  This card is under utilized in the current meta in my opinion.  I love versitile cards like this!

In conclusion this version of Simic flash functions much like it previous version with a few upgrades to help it move forward in the meta in the coming months.  You priority is to never let your opponent resolve a Teferi, Time Ravaler or the path to winning becomes a bit harder.

Have fun!  Your opponents won't!
