Learn more Download For WindowsIn short, Vadrik, Astral Archmage powers up, then the deck slams First Day of Class and another Learn spell into double hasty Mascot Exhibition (cast for free) for a minimum of 24 power (5/5 Elemental, 4/3 Spirit, 3/2 Inkling, twice). Vadrik can nearly always go off the same turn it's cast. In testing I've been able to present lethal on turn 4-5 a surprising number of times. Turn 3 is possible but I haven't pulled this off myself.
I'm using the fast-mana shell of Shambling Ghast, Eyetwitch, Deadly Dispute, and Kalain, Reclusive Painter to get up to the critical 5+ mana the deck needs to go off and provide some bodies against aggro decks. Kalain works beautifully with Vadrik - having Vadrik enter with 3-4 power on him already feels so good.
Some other Learn/fast mana cards fill things out. Hunt for Specimens is just super solid. Enthusiastic Study and Sudden Breakthrough pump up Vadrik while also providing additional value, and serve as combat tricks if needed - Study notably allows Eyetwitch to trade with Goldspan Dragon. Birgi can be really good on either side.
You can't go without at least one Environmental Sciences. At least one Expanded Anatomy is crucial to get Vadrik up to 6-7 power, and in some games, make him too big for spot removal, granting an additional turn of setup. I have three Introduction to Prophecy as a spell to dig for Vadrik, and once he's on the field, free digging for Learn spells, especially First Day of Class. Also, Harnfel plus free Prophecy coupled with the Deadly Disputes is very unlikely to brick.
