Learn more Download For WindowsHey, Kids! Do you like gaining life like a Vampire?
Do you want to GO INFINITE with just TWO CARDS but have plenty of options left on the table in Combo Town?
Well look no further than this Mono Black Historic deck called...
LIFE'S NOT FAIR
• THE COMBO:
If you haven't seen this combo before, you are in for a treat!
Let's read the text on Exquisite Blood first... "Whenever an opponent loses life, you gain that much life."
Now let's read the text on Marauding Blight-Priest... "Whenever you gain life, each opponent loses 1 life."
Think about it... Got it yet?...
Good!
Simply attack the opponent (or gain life) ... (OR BOTH), and start the Circle of Life. You will gain life forever, while draining your opponent of precious life points!
But wait there's more...
Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose does the same thing as Marauding Blight-Priest... but better, and has more survivability with his 3 Toughness.
Because you have 8 Creatures that can pair with your combo, and a good chance to see at least 1 Exquisite Blood per game, you are going to be proc'ing this combo a lot! But what else is in the box? Let's take a look...
• ENCHANTMENTS:
Trespasser's Curse Creates good early punishment against Token Creature decks, and if you get two or more up and running early it will really put the pain on any opponent. It also acts as a trigger for our main Combo by pinging for 1 and healing for 1 for each opponent creature dropped!
Underworld Dreams is great punishment for card draw decks, but is also a great trigger to cause damage at the beginning of the opponents turn if they have a board state where it's not optimum to attack, but you want to do damge to the player to start your main Infinite Combo.
Bastion of Remembrance gives you another way to trigger the combo if the board state is not in your favor... just throw the 1/1 Soldier to his death to trigger the Infinite main Combo.
Ill-Gotten Inheritance is another one of those, once a turn pingers / life givers that can also start the Infinite Combo. Embrace the synergy... in fact, if you run into the rare game where you don't see an Exquisite Blood, you will usually still win by out life gaining even the best of White life gain decks. And don't forget... with Ill-Gotten Inheritance out, your goal is to get your Opponent to 4 and not 0, because you can just Sacrifice Ill-Gotten Inheritance for Lethal. (A lot of people forget that when playing this card.)
All of these life gain / opponent pinging adds up after a while, and most people don't carry around that much anti-Enchantment. Even if they do, you'll be casting more Enchantments on the turns that follow anyway.
• CONTROL:
Bloodchief's Thirst responds to early Creatures well, and is also the problem solver for any Planeswalker problems.
Feed the Swarm is your response for Creatures as well as Enchantments! What's that? Enchantment destruction in Black?! Goooo Swampy!!!
This is a fairly easy deck to pilot. Your biggest thought hurdle will usually be how to start the combo once the Combo pieces are in place. If you have two of your combo pieces in place... Remember these two simple rules:
1. Gaining Life will start the Combo.
2. Damaging your Opponent will start the Combo.
Easy as that!
Now get out there and show 'em how you GOOOOO INFINITE!!!!
Happy Spell Slinging, Planeswalker!
