Learn more Download For WindowsThis is the third version of my combo deck, which focuses on killing the opponent with a little known combo of Warleader's Call, Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might // Temple of Power and Song of Totentanz. As a backup plan, the deck functions as a token generation deck, utilizing Wedding Announcement // Wedding Festivity and Virtue of Loyalty. The deck has very few cards that can be removed by spot removal, which makes it quite resilient against popular cards, such as Cut Down and Go for the Throat.
I added a third color, black, to the deck, because the red and white removal package did not quite well fit to the meta. Either they could not deal with Raffine, Scheming Seer or were sorcery speed. The addition of the black color also opened up great sideboarding options, which white and red quite frankly lacked.
I also worked a lot to get the mana base right.
This is my own brew.
The combo of these three cards is an important part of the deck, being able to kill the opponent with direct damage. The combo, however, is a bit suspectible to removal, either creature removal or enchantment removal. Counterspells work well against the combo as well. Nonetheless, the deck works well without the combo as a midrange deck, wherefore the combo is an additional bonus.
Wedding announcement works in the deck as both a token generator and a card draw engine. It can be supported by Virtue of Loyalty and Warleader's Call, which increase the size of tokens.
Intrepid Adversary has a dual role. It can be an early blocker with lifelink to an opponent's 3/3 creature or it can be a 3/1 lifelinking attacker, which can be useful against aggro decks with no blockers. In the late game, it can provide +1/+1 or +2/+2 to all your creatures, which is especially nice with many tokens.
Sanguine Evangelist has a dual role. Normally, it is a creature that boosts your tokens by +1/+0 with its Battle Cry ability. Its secondary use, however, is to provide fliers, namely 1/1 bats. The bats are meant to block flying creatures, such as Faerie Mastermind, and also function as unblockable threats, if the opponent has no flying creatures.
Song of Totentanz is an excellent token generator, and its "power" is tripled by Warleader's Call. Song provides haste to all creatures, wherefore you can play something like Sanguine Evangelist and then use the rest of the mana available for tokens, which allows all creatures to attack with a +1/+0 boost immediately.
Restless Vents is our man-land and card selection engine. In the late game, you can discard useless lands or other cards to Restless Vents and draw new cards to replace them.
