Learn more Download For WindowsMono B Liliana tribal Control deck. Emphasizes card flexibility in each slot, re-balanced for early STX meta.
Several cards included are "weaker" than the meta alternatives, because they were selected to be as flexible as possible. The card draw in this deck is slow to get started, usually only starting mid or late game. So the cards you do draw early need to deal with the most possibilities in Bo1.
For example, Acquisitions Expert is "safer" than Liliana's Steward, since it immediately triggers a discard without needing to wait an extra turn. This is very relevant when facing heavy spot removal or when you're reanimating a creature. However, I've found that I dislike using turn 2 mana on it, I'd rather save for Grasp of Darkness or Foretell a Skull Raid. More importantly, if the opponent leaves the steward alone for a few turns, you can time the discard to happen when you know they're holding an important card.
Similarly, Grasp of Darkness lets you kill many creatures that either have indestructible, or a higher mana cost than Eliminate handles, or which may have counters. Most of the early game threats can be handled with it, except for Lovestruck Beast. Late game threats like Baneslayer Angel or Vorinclex can't be handled for 2 mana with it, but you should have picked up stronger removal by then.
Note: even though the mana base is very simple, you can tweak it for more utility with some options in the Sideboard. The one danger is not having 5-6 snow lands on the field if you wanted to bring back Tergrid or Professor Onyx, when you cast Blood on the Snow. Extra Faceless Havens are workable, but might cause problems with the heavy black mana requirements of the main deck.
