Description

This is a deck I made for someone on Fiverr. If you have an idea for a deck that you want built, you can find me on Fiverr as genoslugcs.

The Deck

Alright, my friend. Let's get into the deck. As requested, we have a Voltron-theme built around suiting up our creatures with equipment and aura, giving them double strike, and generally making them formidable attackers.

image image image

Let's take a look at some of the different sections of the deck, starting with the things we'll be putting onto the creatures.

Equipment and Auras

image image image

We have around 15 equipment and auras that make out creatures more powerful in combat. This includes pumps to their power and toughness, and keyword abilities. The "sword of" cards are some of the most powerful and we play as many as we can afford. This includes Sword of Light and Shadowimage, Sword of Once and Futureimage, and Sword of Forge and Frontierimage.

Other cards like Whispersilk Cloakimage, Thran Power Suitimage, and Swiftfoot Bootsimage work really well on both offense and defense, which is important. Aside from pumping up our attackers, a few cards, like Quietus Spikeimage and Vorpal Swordimage, can come close to winning games all alone.

Support And Payoff Cards

image image image

Since we're playing so many Equipment and Auras, we also have a lot of things that reward us for doing so. Some of the most important cards in this category are Sram, Senior Edificerimage and Puresteel Paladinimage, which are powerful draw engines. Puresteel also allows us to cheat equipment onto our creatures, which is something we have on several other cards as well.

For example:

Additionally, we play Steelshaper's Giftimage and Open the Armoryimage to search out our most powerful pieces when needed.

Attackers And Payoffs

image image image

A fair portion of our attacking force has flying, fear, or simply can't be blocked. And, of course, Kamiz, Obscura Oculusimage helps here, too. This means that the creatures we're suiting up should be able to connect with the opponent. In addition to this, we have several ways to give creatures double strike. Again, Kamiz, Obscura Oculusimage. But also Halvar, God of Battleimage, and Duelist's Heritageimage.

As pictured, we also have a ton of card advantage and other benefits tied to turning sideways or dealing damage. In addition to Reconnaissance Missionimage, Dowsing Dagger // Lost Valeimage, and Bident of Thassaimage we also have:

The Small Reanimation Package

image image image

As you mentioned, we'll be discarding quite a lot to our commander's ability. So, I included a small package of cards that can help get things back after they've been ditched. Dread Returnimage can be used as a reanimation spell and a way to buy back creatures that have just been removed.

Silas Renn, Seeker Adeptimage and Sun Titanimage work well to get back your lower-cost equipment spells, which can be very back-breaking for opponents. And finally, we have Archpriest of Shadowsimage, the Sword of Light and Shadowimage trigger, and Priest of Fell Rights to round out this little suite of cards.

Protection and Removal

image image image

We have around 13 removal spells (including a few board wipes) in the deck. Here is a quick rundown of the interaction and removal:

I selected these particular spells to give us a variety of powerful answers to a wide array of problems. We can remove creatures and other permanents consistently and for cheap. Plus, between Counterspellimage, Void Rendimage, and Dovin's Vetoimage, you have a couple of "get out of trouble" cards for opposing board wipes and things.

Speaking of opposing removal, the last thing I want to mention is protecting our commander and the other creatures we have loaded up with stuff. Counterspellimage, Void Rendimage, and Dovin's Vetoimage all work for this category as well; just be sure to use them wisely.

Beyond the counters, we have Whispersilk Cloakimage, Swiftfoot Bootsimage, and Tran Power Suit, which give shroud, hexproof, or ward. Then we have Sword of Light and Shadowimage, Sword of Once and Futureimage, and Sword of Forge and Frontierimage, which between then give us access to protection from all five colors. Remember, we can tutor for these!

Beyond those, we have Kaya's Ghostformimage and Grim Returnimage, which can essentially negate a would-be removal spell. And if all else fails, we do have the other reanimation cards that can get stuff back.
