GRUUL AGGRO IS BACK! This Green Red Aggro deck list is tearing it up on the ranked best of one ladder so far in MTG Arena. The goal of this deck is pure and simple: turn creatures sideways and put maximum pressure on the opponent before they can stabilize and cast any big spells or play an big creatures.
Typically, if we have a good two drop ready like Quirion Beastcaller, the optimal play is to get Kumano Faces Kakkazan out as early as possible to grow our creatures and make a 2/2 on turn 3 (if played on turn 1.)
If we don't have Kumano, Ascendant Packleader and Phoenix Chick can fill in those gaps and get early damage in.
Llanowar Loamspeaker is a powerful 2 drop that can ramp you into a turn 4 Thundering Raiju or Halana and Elena, Partners which will make it difficulty for the opponent to recover from if they are not immediately dealt with.
Yavimaya Iconoclast is probably the weakest card in the deck, but it can still pack a punch if played on turn 3 and you pay the kicker of one red mana, making it a 4/3 Trample the turn it attacks. Additionally, if you find yourself at parity or trying to get damage through, it's a great place to put extra +1/+1 counters as it's the only creature in our deck that has trample.
