Intro
This a Jankenstein's Monster I've been working on since Kaldheim dropped. Initially it was an Izzet Midrange brew that I really enjoyed, but I wanted something a little flashier. I cut out the grindier aspects of the original deck and added in the Beanstalk Giant
s and Genesis Ultimatum
. I'm quite pleased with the results!
Piloting
This deck operates in 2 different ways, using Glimpse the Cosmos
and Invasion of the Giants
to dig through your deck:
- Mode 1: you choose to ramp with Fertile Footsteps
, control the board with Battle of Frost and Fire, Stomp, and Squash and slam Genesis Ultimatum on sometimes turn 5 or typically 6 - Mode 2: you can abuse the raw power of Invasion of the Giants's Stage 3 and slug it out with cheap Quakebringers or the 4 mana valuetown: 2 mana Stomp, 1 mana Bonecrusher Giant 1 mana Glimpse the Cosmos from the GY.
I choose Mode 1 when playing against slower decks like ramp, yorion, control and Mode 2 for quicker decks such as aggro, midrange, Lurrus, discard
Core Cards
Battle of Frost and Fire is amazing in this deck. Stage 1 is often just a blowout against aggro & midrange decks, the scry 3 lets you dig deep and hit what you need. finally, it helps reload your hand in a pinch. Shoutout to all my uncast Quakebringer
s pitched to this card.
Quakebringer does WORK. He pings from the graveyard (4 dmg with Calamity Bearer
), hoses entire decks by cucking lifegain, and often works for a discount from Invasion of the Giants
The Royal Scions
is versatile here. Looting is great for card selection, tossing Glimpse the Cosmos is great synergy. It's +2/+0, Trample, and First Strike is a nuisance, and the ultimate absolutely demands dealing with
Cyclone Summoner
is the unsung hero against Yorion Valuetown.dec and clogged boardstates everywhere [Insert The More You Know PSA meme]

- Angels tribal's high toughness
- Counter heavy control decks
Future Revisions & Modifications
Klothys, God of Destiny
is an intriguing option. Damage & Lifegain, Graveyard hosing, and ramp. Seems like really solid 3 drop.
- Might cut 1 Glimpse the Cosmos and Quakebringer
Squash
is easily cuttable, its just a pet card for the deck. Hard removal like Ravenform
might be an easy replacement or Soul Sear
. Possibly counter like Neutralize
, Saw It Coming
, Mystical Dispute
, or Disdainful Stroke
You should be able to cut a Glimpse the Cosmos, Calamity Bearer, or Quakebringer for some other desirable cards
