Description

Faerie Flicker

A primarily Faerie-themed deck with a touch of Flicker mechanics, centered around using Fortune, Loyal Steedimage and the adventure ability "Swift Spiral" from Twining Twinsimage. It incorporates the dread mechanic from Abhorrent Oculusimage, allowing you to flicker dread creatures (whether they’re creatures, enchantments, or artifacts) back into play on their flip side. This deck thrives on intricate interactions and is perfect for those who enjoy a "Johnny" playstyle with lots of synergies to explore. Have fun experimenting with its unique combos!

The Creatures:

Nurturing Pixieimage is a low-cost creature with excellent utility, allowing you to bounce your enchantments back to your hand when needed, whether to target new threats or recycle a Saga before it runs out of chapters.

Picklock Pranksterimage shines as the star faerie of this deck, offering great value while fueling your graveyard, setting up for the next key card.

Abhorrent Oculusimage is a powerful creature with a hefty cost, but if paying that cost is too steep, you can use Recommissionimage to bring it back without the burden. Its ability to manifest dread is the deck's central trick, making it crucial to get this card on the field.

Fortune, Loyal Steedimage provides a recurring way to exile your Dread creatures, enabling some fun interactions. Additionally, the scry ability helps ensure you're set up for your next manifestation of dread.

Twining Twinsimage serves as a solid creature and an excellent backup plan for damage, but its primary use is its adventure ability. Currently, it’s the only flicker spell available in Standard besides Parting Gustimage which could be fun in the deck as well.

The Spells:

Into the Flood Mawimage serves as an essential stall tactic, helping you reach the midgame while also providing a way to clear the path when you need to secure a win.

Founding the Third Pathimage offers tremendous value in this deck. Its ability to cast a free spell on turn two, followed by its graveyard-filling effect, allows for some excellent synergy. Casting useful spells from the graveyard is a big part of the deck's strategy, and Nurturing Pixieimage lets you bounce it back to your hand for recurring value.

Ossificationimage provides reliable removal for problematic creatures, paired with Nurturing Pixieimage, you can even re-use it to target something stronger if needed.

Recommissionimage is a fantastic tool for "cheating" Abhorrent Oculusimage onto the battlefield or reviving most of your key creatures. It also works exceptionally well with the next card on our list.

Parting Gustimage serves a dual purpose in the deck. Offensively, it can blink your creatures for some clever combat tricks. Defensively, it can exile problematic creatures from the battlefield, removing troublesome threats and giving you more control over the game.

Urza's Syleximage is your reset button. If things spiral out of control, this is your go-to board wipe. Whether hard-casting, flickering through dread, or reviving it with Recommissionimage, it can catch your opponent off guard at a critical moment.

Seal from Existenceimage rounds out the deck as a solid targeted removal with built-in protection. It fits seamlessly with your flicker mechanics, providing flexible and secure removal options.

The Gameplan:

Your goal is to get Abhorrent Oculusimage out as quickly as possible and use its abilities to fill the board with dread creatures. Attack when you have the opportunity, but your primary win condition will be dealing damage with the powerful flyers in the deck. This is my first run with this build, and it performs decently against most archetypes, though it struggles against other Blue/White decks. Mill strategies and board wipes like Sunfallimage are particularly rough matchups. I’m considering adding a full set of Three Steps Aheadimage in the future to help mitigate these issues and improve consistency.

Overlord of the Mistmoorsimage might be worth throwing a one of in as well (swaping 1 of the Twining Twins). added to the sideboard as I experment in the future with variations.

Updated 10/20/24 - Removed Fortune, Loyal Steedimage and a single Ossificationimage to put in x3 Parting Gustimage for the added Flicker and removal, I though the double white would be a hinderance, but so far it has not been an issue.
