The Idea
So, the basic idea came of from the past MTGA event FNM at Home: Singleton.
It initially started as the plain combo that exists some time around; that is the indtroduction of the Ikoria expansion, and utilises the Gyruda, Doom of Depths
+ Spark Double
+ something else, or in turn again the same creatures to end up in a near infinite combo that replicates the Gyrudas, placing sime preassure on the board.
so here comes,
The Combo
The combo is none other than Gyruda, Doom of Depths + Spark Double however, we take it to the next level with the option of adding Yorion, Sky Nomad
and of course using Charming Prince
. Moroeover, in this list we run 2 reanimator cards, which imho Blood for Bones
is an excelent fit, that can fetch back more Gyrudas or more Doubles!
In simple words Gyruda, Doom of Depths to ETB to ETB
The Strategy
We are using Esper colors as our main archetype, giving us the option of the control in order to have options against aggro archetype decks that are mainly used at this time.
So, for the most part there are many
- board control cards such as Shatter the Sky
that is a very good fast borad wipe along with Time Wipe. Time Wipe allows us to bump up one of or many ETBs and thus exploiting further the combo pieces, along with the rest of the other creatures who help us control, such as Elite Guildmage or Basilica Bell-Haunt. - counter to prevent many meta threats, such as Nissa, Who Sakes the World, Agent of Treachery, Zenith Flare and many other that it is out of the scope of this guide to explain.
Thought Erasure
and Teferi, Time Raveler
are staples used to boost the control until the combo is ready.
Why Yorion, Sky Nomad?
Yorion, Sky Nomad as a companion gives an advantage firstly as a blinker that triggers ETBs and can be used not only to take Gyruda's or Prince's ability furhter additionaly, the plus twenty cards balances Gyruda's "drawback" and can be used in order to provide safety when the libraries go deep. Hence, an advatage against "mirror" archetypes and/or other atchetypes such as Temur mutate that dig too much.
