Learn more Download For WindowsGo beyond copying creatures -- copy time itself in the form of endless combat phases!
The Duplicombat deck uses Helm of the Host and the cheap equip of Resolute Strike
to print copies of Warriors that become more powerful in large numbers. The benefit of creating multiples of Kargan Warleader
and Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion
is obvious, but there are two particularly interesting interactions at the heart of this deck:
The Combat Celebrant combo:
(1) Equip Celebrant with the Helm pre-combat
(2) Helm prints a copy of Celebrant
(3) Exert the copied Celebrant when declaring attackers
(4) Regardless of what happens to the copied Celebrant, another combat phase occurs due to the Celebrant's ability, which also untaps your creatures
(5) Return to step (2)
And the Moraug, Fury of Akoum combo:
(1) Equip Moraug with Helm of the Host
(2) Accumulate copies of Moraug, if possible
(3) Use Nahiri's Lithoforming to generate multiple landfall triggers pre-combat
(4) Each landfall trigger generates an additional combat phase for each Moraug you control; each combat phase generates another Moraug; each Moraug gives each attacking creature +1/+0 for each time it's attacked this turn
(5) Do the math -- or rather, let MTGA do the math and pray that your opponent is the only thing that explodes
Forging the Tyrite Sword, Nahiri, Heir of the Ancients
, and Axgard Armory
all help you find combo pieces, particularly the Helm. Sejiri Shelter
, Sword of the Realms
, and Akiri, Fearless Voyager
provide various ways to protect present or future Helm-bearers, with Akiri also being a good clone target in that each clone can provide additional draws. Really, in general, don't be shy about slapping the Helm on whoever's around, even a Nahiri 1/1 token is fine; Halvar, God of Battle
can move it onto a more worthy wielder for free later.

There must have been some magic in that old steel Helm they found
For when they placed it on his head, he began to split into an army of Frostys that laid waste to the town
