Learn more Download For WindowsThe Dean of Mean is a 3 stack 63 card deck that has the ability to drop both Velomahcus and Koma on turn 4 possibly even turn 3 on a perfect hand. To do this you need to fortell Return upon the tide, and discard something with spoils. return vel to battlefield and attack, then hope you get another return card to bring Koma onto the field, sounds complicated but it rather common due to the redudancy in the deck.
The idea is to discard vel and Koma and return them for 4 mana with fortold return upon the tide or 5 mana with life link. Vel should be your priority res target unless you are facing control, then it is often best to lead with koma as it takes more resources to deal with.
Dean has value in this deck on both sides of the card early game look to drop dean and abuse the free discard, if you don't need the discard being able to untap gold span on attack is valuable. Sieze the spoils pairs very well with Goldpsan dragon. Gold span is generally cast from hand but agaisnt mill or other discard don't hesitate to get him on the board as he can quickly allow you to cast vel from hand. This deck will make just about any mill deck scoop and can easily shut down rouges with a well timed Shadows Verdict they only have 4 drown in the lochs and you can generally out last them.
Efreet + Access tunel allows you to keep the pressure up and filter the deck quickly by casting from the grave. Protect everything with Shelters and Bounty.
Shadows verdict procs from Vel or can best cast from hand, don't be afriad to exile your dean or bounties if the sitation calls for it. Finaly there is always the option of just beating down your opponent with gold span dragons from ahnd and hard casting Koma. The deck is really only shut down by heavy counter spells that deny your return spells. In these cases try not to discard koma right away as it will tip any good player off as to what you might be up to if they look at your mana base.
The deck is primarily shut down by heavy counters, decks running tons of counters and tons of removal into Ugin or the like, so save yourself some grief and scoop on those.
