Introduction
I've been wanting to make a deck centered around Doom Foretold
for sometime, but with little success. When I came across MONO BLACK MAGIC's take on the Vito combo at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUUCB1TH0b4 I knew I had to give it a try. As a non-meta deck, this works surprisingly well in Best-of-One due to the surprise factor. I usually hold off on playing either combo piece until I can play both on the same turn so the opponent remains unaware and proceeds to burn through their available answers. As such, most of the deck is simply there to stall the game.
Discard vs. Sweeper
I'm experimenting a bit with the Kaya's Wrath
slot to see if hand hate would be a better choice. I still wanted some way to deal with early creatures so I'm trying out Elspeth's Nightmare
before switching to Thoughtseize
.
Sideboard
I added Solemn Simulacrum
to make sure I don't miss land drops. Wishclaw Talisman
was added to dig for a missing combo piece (had a few games where both pieces were in the bottom 10 cards). I also found it useful for keeping Doom Foretold active if the opponent tries to make it expire. Shadowspear
was added as a tool for ensuring the board wipes and ECD remain effective.
