Description

Hey, kids!

Do you like Blue Control Jank with a strong Mel Vorthos feel?

Well look no further, this deck is for you!

Ice Mages (or Blue Bounce) focuses on sending your opponents' cards back to their hand, and denying them Creatures and Attacks.

You will have a ton of fun! (And really if you think about it... the ones who are having fun are the best winners!)

If you're a paper Magic player, every card is currently about $0.25 each (because they're all commons and uncommons), so this is a great Budget Deck!

The only card that is Rare is a playset of Riptide Laboratoryimage, which is currently now around $4 a pop. (Thank you, Jumpstart! Not bad.)

So what do all the pieces do?

CREATURES:

The Stars of the show, the Blue Bounce / Ice Mages!

Exclusion Mageimage starts things off by bouncing an opponent's Creature back into their hand, usually followed by an Academy Journeymageimage for the same effect on the following turn.

But if you need the early Toughness, Queen of Iceimage mixed with some of the Deck's Enchantment Auras will help get you on top fast. Queen of Iceimage can also lock down an opponent's Creature for a turn while you keep building your little blue wizard brigade.

MANABASE:

20 Islandimages make up the bulk of your manabase.

Riptide Laboratoryimages protect your 12 Wizard Creatures from destruction, and can be used to bounce them back to your hand to recast for their "Enter The Battlefield" bounce effects (or Sorcery Adventure) again!

CONTROL:

image image

Stern Dismissalimage bounces opponent Creatures or Enchantments at Instant speed.

Disperseimage bounces any non land permanent back to the owner's hand. (Which could be used on your opponent's permanents for removal, or on your permanents for a recast of Exclusion Mageimage or Academy Journeymageimage for their Enter The Battlefield Effects or Queen of Iceimage's Sorcery Adventure some late game control.

MORE CONTROL:

To keep with the theme we have Time of Iceimage which is a 3 part Saga that can lock down two creatures, and then bounce all tapped creatures an opponent has back into their hand. (This pairs nicely with the Queen of Iceimage's Rage of Winterimage Sorcery Adventure)

We also have Teferi's Time Twistimage, an Instant speed spell which can flicker your Bounce Mages, bringing them back at the end of the current turn (your's or your opponent's) triggering their ETB Bounce mechanic, and giving them a nice +1/+1 counter as a bonus!

ENCHANTMENT AURAS:

One With the Windimage gives your Mage's Flying and +2/+2. This will make your Mages an awesome Power House!

Starlit Mantleimage gives you an Instant speed (Flash) Enchantment spell which gives your Creature Hexproof for the turn and a +1/+1 bonus for as long as the Aura is attached. (Great for protecting them from removal spells.)

That's the deck. It's pretty straight forward, and you will find many different ways to play each turn, as you answer your opponents with the trademark, "NOPE!"

Remember... The Riptide Laboratoryimage makes this a Legacy deck on paper... but a Historic deck in Arena...

Happy Spell Slinging, Planeswalker!
