This is the deck I'm running currently on high mythic. I used mono white aggro and mono red to climb the ladder.
The deck is pretty effective so far, golgari is the hardest matchup.
The main problem with mono black is that it can't deal with enchantements, and artifacts generally. It is easy to play, but I think golgari gives a more rounded ability to destroy all opposing threats. The green black cards (glissa, mosswood dreadknight, tear asunder and a few others like sentinel of lost lore, give very high value).
I think orzhov is also very good. Actually I think it is a very open meta with potentially many good decks in BO1. Esper also seems still very strong to me as a mix of powerful midrange and or control.
Overall I went 24-16 over a number of versions with mono-black.
