INTRO
We take their own formats and break down the costs and still have fun. That's what we do. These ARTISAN(Pioneer) decks are meant for being payed with friends who are fed up with a game of magic being decided on turn 4, because they missed their land drop or there opponent is playing the most power crept card in the format.
MAIN:
Noxious on Youtube posted a deck I instantly liked and I thought to myself, yeah, that works in ARTISAN, too.
So this deck will be all about dropping Risen Reef, that drops a land, that triggers Zendikar's Roil, that drops an Elemental, that triggers Risen Reef, that repeats the process.
Getting a great starting hand is crucial to EITHER play a Leafkin on T2 OR a Growth Spiral on T2 to get the value train going.
Creeping Trailblazer gets the job done with beeing a half-lord (+1/+0) to all elementals and the secret tech here is Scampering Scorcher, which gives ALL ELEMENTALS HASTE WHEN IT'S ON THE BATTLE FIELD !!!
If the game gets to the late game, don't be scared of decking yourself IF (!!!!!) you can keep up 4 mana an play the Scampering Scorcher. All 2/2 elementals that entered the battlefield will get haste and just one single Trailblazer will give enough punching power.
Oh, and if not needed, don't crack the evolving wilds and wait for the end step of your opponent, they'll never see the pain train coming.
CHEAT SHEET:
- 14 sources green-mana (including Evolving Wilds) create a 91% chance of a turn 1 Forest.
- 12 sources of red/blue (including Evolving Wilds) mana should do the trick with 92% of a turn 2 color fix.
- With 26 lands in total there should be enough in the deck to trigger Risen Reef and Zendikar's Roil to deck yourself eventually. (May the RNG gods be with you)
KNOW THY STRENGTH:
This is basically a One Turn Kill deck, which needs a little bit of build up on the board. Hyper aggressiv decks will beat the crap out of this deck, because 4 shocks won't do the trick. Board whipes will hurt a lot and this deck also doesn't have the speed for heavy control decks.
But it's hella lot of fun, I will guarantee you that.
FUTURE SIGHT:
I will be building several flavorful 60 card artisan decks, with mechanics i deem strong enough to built around. Keep an eye out for the next one.
