Description

This deck is really fun because it has the rare quality of actually making you think about how to win. A lot of times in standard it feels like the deck plays itself, but there are so many flexible ways to work with what you've got that it makes for some interesting game-play.

I think the thing elementals do best is swarm the board quickly and then make their power ridiculously big. Obviously Risen Reefimage is the most powerful card in the deck, and it's the biggest reason to play elemental tribal. Chandra, Acolyte of Flameimage combos best with it to draw you multiple cards every turn, and her -2 ability can bring back a game-winning Shockimage or Neoformimage. Speaking of which, Neoform was originally included to make finding Risen Reef more consistent, but I found that it combos really well with literally everything in the deck. It can sacrifice Risen Reef to find Omnath, Locus of the Roilimage for direct damage or a kill spell, it can sacrifice Omnath when you have a second one in hand to find a 2-mana Cavalier of Flames, it can sacrifice Scorch Spitterimage to find a flying threat in Lightning Stormkinimage or a go-wide threat in Creeping Trailblazerimage, or it can find Scampering Scorcherimage to get a huge amount of unexpected damage. Scampering Scorcher is surprisingly one of the most important additions to the deck because it allows you to win unexpectedly and go wide like the deck wants to. Chandra, Novice Pyromancerimage is one of my favorite cards in the deck because she's just the card I need every time I draw her. All of her abilities have proven relevant, and her +1 ability is kind of unreal. Cloudkin Seerimage is just good value, and it adds to a critical mass of flyers which become relecvant.

needs an update to play in Historic. Maybe Coco and Glaspool Mimic.
