Description

ORIGINAL DECK IDEA: MTGGoldfish Budget Decks

If you get bored of the meta, because it's late in the cycle and a new set release is still a few weeks down the line, I often find myself digging the budget decks around the web to build and play in "artisan historic" for fun, or just with a friend on a rainy evening and spend some quality time.

This is one of those decks.

MAIN:

I was browsing through some budget decks and found this aggro/reanimator-ish deck and was hooked with the idea of playing an aggro deck that has bit of reach with the reanimating strategie, that also can life-drain you opponent.

The party mechanic serves multiple duties here: Hand disruption Acquisitions Expertimage, life-drain Malakir Blood-Priestimage, punching power Grotag Bug-Catcherimage and a bit of removal Deadly Allianceimage.

Unlike the Boros Mentor deck, which utilizes speed foremost, this deck wants to grind a bit more and establish a resiliant strategy based on your opponents deck. On the flip side, the removal is seriously there for getting your creatures through combat unscathed and if they do fall, bring them back with added benefits and punch again.

Claim // Fame is a nice addition as it serves to bring back more creature and give them enough power.

CHEAT SHEET:

- 13 sources creature-mana create a 89% chance of turn 1 and 92% chance of turn 2 color fixing

- With 22 lands in total there is about a 85% to get the 3rd land on the play and on the draw about 90% for the 3rd land. (Everything above that count is gravy OR discard fodder)

- Dealing with flooding on lands: (also) unlike the Boros Mentor deck, this deck doesn't do so well with flood. Therefore the card draw should keep you above water, other than that: Good luck!

KNOW THY STRENGTH:

This aggressiv deck, shows a bit of resilience towards removal, however the big chonky boys or the token strategies will absolutely brick wall you, unless you can fly over them. (adjust your sideboard accordingly). The goal is to outmaneuver obsticles and drain your opponents life total, if you can't attack profitably. Put pressure on the board early on againt control decks and try to force out counter spells or removal and THEN use reanimating spells.

FUTURE SIGHT:
I will be building several flavorful 60 card artisan decks, with mechanics i deem strong enough to built around. Keep an eye out for the next one.

Much appreciated comment, TurtleBox. Spurs me to do a bit more than usual, seeing that my decks are being seen.
Cheers to you!

Oddly enough, while building Bant Party I noticed a potential Artisan build in Red / Black. Really great to see this list here.
