The gamplan is simple. Get Drakuseth, Maw of Flames
into your graveyard with a discard spell, then reanimate him with Bond of Revival
. This is a budget deck, but the main thing you can upgrade is the mana base, with check and shocklands. Checklands rotate soon, so I can recommend getting shocklands first, since they are also widely used in other formats. The other upgrade is getting another copy of Cavalier of Night
and some copies of Cavalier of Thorns
. They are good value, alternative reanimate targets and synergise with Risen Reef
. The main reason the deck is so cheap is that all the core pieces cost nothing, but it's still fun and 100% FNM playable. Also the deck is almost completely rotation proof. Chart a Course
is a hit for the deck, but can be replaced with other discard effects, hopefully more will be printed. A card that could be used is Rotting Regisaur
, it blocks well, and often we dont mind discarding anyway. Another option is Discovery // Dispersal
. Cast Down
Can be repalced with Tyrant's Scorn
or any other interactive card you prefer, whatever fits your meta.
