Learn more Download For WindowsFocus is on gaining 3 life with Indulging Patrician out! 3 heads if for our very good boy and anti-Elder Giant dog, Kunoros, Hound of Athreos. Friendly reminder that the tokens from Dawn of Hope are NOT humans, so these are great mutate targets because they already come with lifelink, which you want for this deck!!
Something to note - there is no red, so you can't hard cast Snapdax, Apex of the Hunt. That's fine, because you want to be using him for that sweet mutate ability to take out a block, gain 4 life (and do 3 damage at end step!), and swing with this (literal) beast. You could add 2 Savai Triomes if you want, instead of 1 plains 1 swamp. You also will get that sweet cycling ability in a flood situation, so that might not be a bad move.
Lastly, get AGGRESSIVE with this deck. When you mutate the auricorn or snapdax, swing in and start knocking them out. This deck does well because it pressures your opponent while making other aggressive decks out of range to kill you.
Strengths: This deck absolutely blows aggressive decks out of the water. Even on the draw against mono red, they usually can only get two/three good hits in before you start stabilizing.
Weaknesses: This deck went 11 wins straight after I built it, but it does get beat out by a good Simic Flash deck if you're not careful. I'm going to work on sideboarding against the Flash decks, particularly after the banning of Teferi, Time Raveler.
Sideboarding Tips: Bring in the hate :D
Rotation Tips: This deck will only be minorly affected by rotation this September, notably Dawn of Hope, Basilica Bell-Haunt, and Despark. I'll be looking to replace these slots when Zendikar Rising comes out.
My decks are always public and come with piloting guides! If you use my decks, please credit me as "AlexTheArchmage" when appropriate. If you have suggestions or new findings, let's collaborate :).
