Learn more Download For WindowsThe Rakdos Self-Sacrifice deck was one of my absolute favorites for the last leg before the release of AFR.
I had taken the biggest portions of those bones of dropping creatures with the intent of self-extermination.
Some of the biggest hurdles was the loss of Claim the First Born in 2022 standard, but there was alternatives. In this deck I decided to go with Mascot Interception. It's four mana which can be brutal, but it does offer the flipside of guaranteeing a +2/+0 to whatever is stolen before it gets eaten.
After having waffled back and forth between multiple options to replace the Woe Strider which was always a massive bomb I decided to go with the Skullport Merchant. It's very sticky at 4 mana, can sac and draw as well as creates a treasure as soon as it hits the field.
Alternate options that were considered were Village Rites, Deadly Dispute, Priest of the Haunted Edge, and Sepulcher Ghoul. The ghoul is only discarded because it's ability can only be activated at Sorcery Speed.
Newest change was to add the Warlock Class to the deck as an "artificial Bastion of Remembrance" since as creatures die there is punishment to the opponent. It's not perfect, but with a high chance of creatures being killed off then there needs to be punishment of some sort.
