This very new Decklist in the Meta "Gruul Fires" was piloted by "lucajak". I personally haven't seen a Gruul Fires list before and am really happy to see a new Decklist making it this far. I hope we see more of it in the ladder so it gets a bit more diverse out there :)

"Mirozel" piloted this Jeskai Fires List to the Top 6.
You might just think uh boring Jeskai Fires - seen it a 1000 times... But no have a closer look at this one! The List variates quite a bit to the normal Jeskai Fires build. It's much more of a Control build or even better it's in between the Jeskai Midrange and the Jeskai Control build.
I really like this build and I think it attacks the current meta in a great way. I bet we will see more of this one ;)

here we have the first and only Bant Ramp list in the top 8. I was actually surprised not seeing more of it making it that far.
The reason for exactly this list making it that far might have been more to do with the player piloting it as it was none other than "kanister". He impresses me a lot with his level of play. Seeing him playing his Jund Sacrifice List winning Mythic Championship VII without losing one match was just insane. And he is also always fun to watch and see him making proper use of the Arena Emotes :P

Well, I told you there might be more Temur Reclamation lists to come in the top 8, and here it is. This one was piloted by "egdirb" or better known in Seth Manfield. He is the second big Name in this top 8 probably everyone knows in the world of MTG. He even made it to the top 3 at this year's Worlds in Honolulu.
Even though we have 3 Temur Rec. Lists in the top 8 there are quite some differences not only in the Sideboards build but also in the main decks. It just shows how strong Temur Reclamation is at the moment and there is a lot of card choices you have which not mak this archetype any worse.
But wait, if Temur Rec. didn't make the first place, and there was only one Bant list in the top 8 what will it be?!? Fires? Lurrus?
Let's find it out together.

Yes, my friends, neither of them made it up to Nr. 1 :) This super surprising Decklist came out of nowhere to take it all!!!
It was piloted by "Jammernaut" in James Ramsey. Congratulation Mr. Ramsey you´ve surely surprised us all with this new Decklist making it to the top.
The Deck runs as Companion. But not only Obosh is new to this Rados Sacrifice list. we also see a 4 off of Heraldic Banner and 2 Judith, the Scourge Diva which I haven't seen in a Meta Deck for a long time. Great to see "the Diva" making it back into a meta-list.
There you have it. This was the top 8 Decks of the weekly championship week 1 (season2).
Even though we have a good variance of Deck Archetypes in the top 8 and a surprise winner in Obosh Aggro/Sacrifice, what stands out for me in the first 2 Weeks of Ikoria is the heavy dominance of all "Mana cheating" Decks like Temur Reclamation (3 top 8 finishes), which is definitely the strongest Deck Type in my opinion right now, Jeskai Fires, Bant Ramp, and even Gruul Fires now.
have been dominating the meta for a long time now and it seems just to get worse. Especially because the probably strongest card from the new Set Ikoria (showing up in Fires, Bant Ramp, and Temur Reclamation of course) in fits just perfect into these builds.
any fair midrange Deck which is happy to have 5 or 6 Mana available at turn 5 looks into potential 15 Mana or even more on the other side of the table. How are you supposed to win a game with such a huge disadvantage?!?
The only way to compete with this seems to be the sacrifice strategies or super aggro like RDW.
Thanks a lot for reading and leave any comments below.
The Magician
On a Side Note: Not only one "normal" Jeskai Fires list made it to the top 8 even though it was the list with the biggest amount of qualifies as far as I know.

What changes did you make to the Theros UW List?
I just checked it now and did want to write you but you have been faster ;) somehow I had in my mind its a one-mana spell...
I´m a kinda glad man because that would have been a bit too sick, wouldn't it ;)
lol yea it's just crazy. Just because of Lurrus and Gyruda the Cage became one of the most important SB cards atm. :P
Yea, the companions are kinda ridiculous. I've been grinding away with a Lurrus aristocrats build and it's funny how little it takes to just grind people out. It basically turns all your dudes into psuedo-Cauldron Familiars.
i guess you mean when Obosh is on the board?!
This is honestly a good question though. I haven´t tryed it yet.
As far as i understand it i would say yes. but i will get back to you with an approved answer :)
no doubt Companions doing it these days an 8 card (in some cases almost at no cost) is just ridiculous isn't it...
