MTG Lord Of The Rings Spoilers - Eowyn, Galadriel, & New Sauron
The next set to hit shelves is The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth, which releases on June 23rd. As we get closer and closer to release we can expect more cards to be spoiled. In fact, over the last couple of days, we've had several new cards spoiled, or actually leaked - One of which is yet another Sauron card! These leaks are the focus of today's article. So, let's jump right into the newest MTG Lord of the Rings spoilers.
MTG Lord Of The Rings Spoilers
Eowyn, the Shieldmaiden
Translation:
Legendary Creature - Human Knight
First Strike
At the beginning of combat on your turn, if another Human entered the battlefield under your control this turn, create two 2/2 red Human Knight creature tokens with trample and haste. Then if you control six or more humans, draw a card.
Thoughts
Man, Eowyn is insane! First, she has respectable stats as a five mana 5/4 with first strike. Aside from that, she casually churns out multiple tokens and has a built-in card draw engine. She fuels herself really well too. Once she's in play and you have another human enter, she'll add two more. So, by casting/creating (tokens count here) a single human, you'll already be at four, even if you started with zero.
Galadriel, Elven Queen
Thoughts:
Galadriel, Elven Queen seems the perfect place to slap Will of the Council - And this is a fun and powerful voting ability. At the start of combat on your turn, if another Elf entered the battlefield under your control, each player will vote for dominion or guidance.

If dominion wins, the Ring tempts you, and you get to put a +1/+1 counter on your ring-bearer. If guidance gets more votes, or the vote is tied, you draw a card. I like both of these outcomes. Assuming you've got a creature imbued with the ring, votes for dominion will have it fully powered (and growing in size) quickly. At the same time, the guidance votes give you straight card advantage. So, this is a win-win situation if you can churn out Elves.
Sauron, Lord of the Rings
Thoughts
This is the third Sauron card we've seen from the set, and I think it's the most powerful one yet. This one (appropriately named Lord of the Rings) has a massive 9/9 body with trample. And whenever you cast it, you amass Orcs 5 (which is really cool - Previous to this, amass is something we've only seen with zombies) and reanimate a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield.
This is a massive cast trigger. Just Sauron and the 5/5 Orc is a total of 14 power and toughness, and that's not even considering whatever nasty stuff you could bring back from the graveyard. Pretty good for eight mana, if you ask me. And in typical late-night infomercial fashion, there's more. On top of everything, the ring tempts you whenever an opposing commander dies.
As the Magic Historian mentioned, it feels a little weird from a lore perspective to have the Ring tempt Sauron, considering he created it. However, from a gameplay point of view, it's a nice little cherry on top of an already beastly version of the dark lord.
Conclusion
There you have it, my friends - The latest batch of MTG Lord of the Rings spoilers. As mentioned in the intro, these were leaked, so some of the images are a little rough. Overall though, some of these cards are fantastic. Comment down below and let me know your thoughts.
