Based on [Gaea's Wheelchair Ramp](https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Public/9356)

Degree of Difficulty: 9/10

Weak Against: Boros Aggro, Dimir Control and Turbofog

Neutral Against: Mono Red Burn, Mono Blue Tempo, Golgari Graveyard

Strong Against: Everything else (Green Stompy, Izzet/Esper/Jeskai Control, Selesnya Tokens, etc.)

The concept of the deck is pretty simple (despite having a 9/10 difficulty). You want to ramp into large removal spells that clear the way for your massive creatures to win you the game. Gift of Paradiseimage is your primary and best way of doing this, but you also have Grow from the Ashesimage, Thaumatic Compass // Spires of Orazcaimage and Chromatic Lanternimage to help ramp/mana fix as well.

image

Your main sweeper spells are Deafening Clarionimage to help clean up smaller aggro decks and Cleansing Novaimage/Star of Extinctionimage for everything else. Vraska's Contemptimage and Assassin's Trophyimage will allow you to remove any individual threats that need to be removed quickly, like Planeswalkers or powerful enchantments/artifacts. The Immortal Sunimage will also assist in shutting down any powerful Planeswalkers like Teferi, while also providing card draw. Expansion/Explosion can help counter counterspells or turn powerful burn spells against the opponent, while also being a late game removal/draw spell when you need cards most.

image image

These are your two primary win conditions. Tyrant is basically impossible to deal with once he's on the board and will win you the game if you've already cleared the way for him. Zacama is a "deal with this when it drops or you lose" creatures since he can deal massive damage, remove all threats from the board and/or gain a ton of life.

image

Rounding out the deck are a number of Instant/Sorcery cards designed to combat various things you'll see in the meta. Banefireimage is your ace-in-hole against control decks, especially Mill variants. Just when your opponent thinks they have you locked down with their hand full of counterspells, you hit them with an uncounterable bomb for the win. Notion Rainimage and Discovery/Dispersal help you draw the spells you need. Unmoored Egoimage flat out wins games by removing a deck's sole win condition (like Teferi) or the only spells that can deal with your Tyrants (like Settle the Wreckage). Mastermind's Acquisitionimage let's you go fetch the exact card you need and Nexus of Fateimage can let your Tyrant hit earlier or help prevent getting milled. Gaea's Blessingimage is also designed to prevent yourself from decking out.

Sideboard

image

This card was included in the original Gaea deck, but I took it out in favor of two more Carnage Tyrants. Reason being that I felt that in 90% of games when I drew a Pelakka, I'd rather have a Tyrant. Pelakka rarely survives with the amount of counterspells/removal in the format, but can be a good card to sideboard in if you're playng against a deck (like Mono Red Burn) that can't remove him and takes a huge hit from the lifegain.

image

Some decks are so fast and get so big (like Boros Aggro) that Deafening Clarion won't kill them and Cleansing Nova is too little, too late with its 5 mana cost. In these cases, getting a cheaper mass removal spell out there like Settle the Wreckage can save your life. Similarly, Slice in Twainimage is alternate removal for decks that rely on artifacts/enchantments should you run into it and Ixalan's Bindingimage can help shut down extra copies of nasty cards like Teferi, while In Bolas's Clutchesimage can just flat out steal those huge threats.

image

These card are not necessarily needed in the sideboard, but are included because they were either featured in the previous decklist or seem useful in certain matchups. Storm is a card included in the OG deck's Mainboard, but too often I got very little value out of it, primarly because it would either A. get countered B. take up space in my hand that could've been used for a far more useful spell or C. wouldn't have the necessary smaller instants/sorceries to take advantage of it. Too often it was just a dead card, but it does have potential for insane combos (cast Blessing/Discovery/Trophy to get double/triple Nexus or Banefire). Omniscienceimage was another Mainboard card from the OG deck that I took out because rarely did I have enough cards in my hand by 9 mana to even take advantage of playing them for free. Our ramp lets us play whatever we want anyway, so Omni almost seems redundant, but it's a good card in combination with any sort of draw (like Explosion) and a great counter to Turbofog if they use Overflowing Insightimage on you. Remorseful Clericimage and Negateimage are self-explanatory, they can be game-winning cards against three of your less favorable matchups in Golgari Graveyard and Dimir Control/Turbofog.

Boros is easily your weakest matchup. They hit you fast and hard, but unlike Mono Red Burn, they do it by beefing up their creatures with Mentor. Because of this, Deafening Clarion, our usual bread-and-butter counter for fast decks, is not as effective. Wakening Sun could be a "two-birds with one stone" type of creature, wiping out their board AND leaving you with a massive creature ready to swing. Only problem is that it's expensive so surviving to that point can be difficult and Boros also has a counter to sweeping removal in the form of Dauntless Bodyguard. So it's a maybe.
