Token Producers
To maximize Risen Reef
the deck utilizes several elemental token producers:
Note that Rekindling Phoenix creates an elemental token when it dies.
You can also use the tokens to go wide and grow them with the following cards:
Creeping Trailblazer's ability also profits from going wide with elementals.
Reanimation
Let's talk about Thunderkin Awakener
:
Cards like Risen Reef or 1/1 elemental tokens are very vulnerable to cards like Goblin Chainwhirler
or sweepers in genereal. To combat that weakness, we can grow our elemental above 1 toughness with Icon of Ancestry or Creeping Trailblazer. Alternatively we can recur Risen Reef or Scampering Scorcher with Thunderkin Awakener. If we can manage to grow Thunderkin Awakener with Creeping Trailblazer or Icon of Ancestry we are also able to bring back elementals with more toughness.
Card Advantage
The main card advantage stems from the following two cards:
Finishers
As finishers at the top curve of the decks we got the following cards:
Cavalier of Thorns on turn 5 can assure we get to play Chandra, Awakened Inferno on turn 6. The cavalier also can fuel the graveyard with reanimation targets for Thunderkin Awakener. The creature itself has good stats to beat down the opponent. Even if it dies it generates some value.
Notes on the mana base: Maybe it's better to play 4 scry lands to get value on turn 1.
