Learn more Download For WindowsThis is a Racoon City (Resident Evil) Themed deck that I made for a customer on Fiverr. If you're interested in having a deck made, you can find me on Fiverr as genoslugcs.
As requested, we have lots of creatures that would feel at home in Racoon City - We have Zombies, Spiders, Snakes, A Tree Horror, Rats, one (playset) of humans, and a few other abominations. So, let's get into how the deck works.
There are three simple concepts built-in. They are:
This is the card that brings all of those themes together. With Fynn out, each creature with deathtouch will give out opponent two poison counters. This includes Fynn. So, the deck is filled with small, nasty creatures, that make blocking a nightmare (you should be uncomfortable in Racoon City, no?) for opponents. We have a total of 15 creatures with deatchtouch that all have infect with Fynn out.
Moving on, here's the next piece of the puzzle.
This card is putrid, dude. Whenever we attack with any of those 15 creatures the blightfang will drain opponents for one and you'll gain one. To be clear, this triggers for each creature attacking - You swing with three deathtouchers? The opponent loses three life. Have two Hooded Blightfang out? Opponent losses six... And they still take poison on top of the damage so this is an attack on all fronts.
Next, we have our actual infect creatures. These are here to keep the pressure on even if Fynn gets removed. We have:
Getting at least one poison counter early is important because this isn't a straight aggro deck. We can infect an opponent, sit back and block with deathtouch and proliferate them to 10 while we pick off their threats. All the removal in the deck (and there is a good bit) proliferates! Here's the removal/proliferate package.
These not only clear the board up but let you play a more methodical, grindy style. You'll always have good blocks, have them afraid to attack, and be inching them closer to their demise. Now, don't get me wrong; You'll want to turn these monstrosities sideways when need be, but it doesn't play like straight aggro.
While Unnatural Restroation is there for even more grind and proliferation. With a few of these in the starting 60, they'll need two removal spells for the main threat.
We have a total of 24 lands. Of these 24, they breakdown as follows:
I picked the ones that I felt fit the theme the best but feel free to add fetches and shock lands if you have them or want the smoothest possible mana base.
My $5 decks now come with free sideboards.:) So, we have some anti-artifact and enchantment hate that is also more proliferation with Cankerbloom. Scavenging Ooze to nuke the graveyard or gain life against burn. And all the proliferation works great with the counters too.
Up next is the anti-control cards. We have four Agonizing Remorse and three Wrap in Vigor to take counterspells and negate their removal. These are also ok against Jund and things too. Lastly, there is a few copies of Vraska, Swarm's Eminence to flood the board with deathtouch tokens that can remove opposing planeswalkers.
