Learn more Download For WindowsHistoric Anthology 1 brought Kinsbaile Cavalier with it, giving all your knights double strike. Playing History of Benalia on turn 3 into Benalish Marshal on turn 4, and Kinsbaile Cavalier on turn 5 is a really strong way to make quick work of an unexpecting opponent. Basically, that's the whole idea here - fill up the board with as many knights as possible, and put down Kinsbaile Cavalier to give them all double strike and (hopefully) overwhelm your opponent. The only non-Knight creature card I really considered for this deck is Venerated Loxodon, mainly because it is that good. Being able to make your other creatures bigger while also presenting a threat in itself, is excellent value. You can even play it while keeping up mana to hold up another spell, if you decide to main deck some instants.
Though the deck is made to be as aggro as possible out the gate, it also has some late game built into it with Acclaimed Contender being able to find more action when it enters the battlefield, Worthy Knight making 1/1 Human tokens whenever you cast a Knight creature spell allowing you to go as wide as possible, and The Circle of Loyalty letting you make a 2/2 Knight (will be 3/3 from the +1/+1 static effect from the artifact) for 4 mana each turn. Even Castle Ardenvale being able to make a 1/1 Human token for 4 (essentially 5 from having to tap it as well) each turn provides some late game plays.
The sideboard is somewhat like the old white weenies decks, with Gideon Blackblade, Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants, Glass Casket (in place of Baffling End, though it is better in some situations), and the fourth copy of Conclave Tribunal. Some inclusions that I thought might find a place in some matchups are Devout Decree, Ravnica at War, Tomik, Distinguished Advokist, and Sorcerous Spyglass. Tomik and Spyglass are both good for shutting down the +1 from Nissa, Who Shakes the World, but Spyglass can also hit other planeswalkers or creatures (I'm looking at you, Oko, Thief of Crowns and Teferi 3 and 5).
As with most aggro decks like this, one of the biggest threats is board wipes, so I am considering cards like Make a Stand to provide some protection against them in the sideboard plan against decks with "destroy" board wipes (Kaya's Wrath, Cleansing Nova) or damage-based board wipes (Deafening Clarion, Solar Blaze). Unfortunately, there is not really much in the way of protection against -X/-X wrath effects (Find // Finality, Cry of the Carnarium). Additionally, there are quite a few enchantment and artifacts that have found their way into a few decks (Fires of Invention, Doom Foretold, Embercleave, etc.), so Disenchant could be a good sideboard option in place of Glass Casket or Ravnica at War.
Another card I had considered for the sideboard was The Immortal Sun since it would shut down all planeswalkers, but it seemed way too slow. However, interestingly enough, you could possibly get it from Acclaimed Contender's enter the battlefield effect, resulting in unintended synergy.
If you decide to try this deck out, let me know what you think and what changes you would recommend as this is still a work in progress.
