I was able to elevate from the Diamond to the Mythic using 2.0 version of this deck ( https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Edit/406480 ) in the November 2020 season on the M:tG Arena. Win rate dropped to 61%.
The main idea is to make classic mono-red aggro playable in the mid- and late- game. First of all, I needed to develop a card draw after Light Up the Stage was rotated. And here it is Valakut Exploration and Nahiri's Lithoforming! I tried those cards in different kinds of Landfall decks and they did not work well. Here they do the job. Another change compared to aggro variants is a land count: 24 “classic” lands and a lot of double-faced cards. All this mana utilized via Phoenix of Ash, kicked Roil Eruption, and Leyline Tyrant.
All the direct damage spells can target a player and finish a close game. So there is no Fire Prophecy and all other Thundering Rebukes: direct damage must target not only the board but the opponent too.
Sideboard notes. Ox of Agonas is great against Rogues. Shatterskull Charger is a way to escape control decks’ board wipes. It also works nicely with the Terror of the Peaks. Shredded Sails is against Rogues, Embercleave, The Great Henge. Why Anax, Hardened in the Forge is not in the main? Because Phoenix of Ash has haste, is flying, good against rogues and all the removal spells in the meta.
What I tried and removed from the deck: Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, Relic Robber.
What I want to try: Volcanic Geyser, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon.
