Besides the mana base, a fairly aggressive budget deck with several win conditions that mesh well: Fynn, the Fangbearer
and the poison counters, Questing Beast and Cleave, porcuparrot and morph. You can drop QB and Cleave to go full budget but I wouldn't expect to win as much. You could swap Nighthawk Scavenger
for Vengeful Reaper
on a budget but again, the performance isn't quite the same. VR has some advantages with haste and foretell, but just doesn't work as well for me. Also, its mana value of 4 doesn't allow it to be a Call of the Death-Dweller
target.
Tyrite Sanctum
is fairly situational but can give counters and indestrucible to Fynn, Chevill, and QB. Vraska can buff all deathtouch users who land blows.
Morphing Porcuparrot
onto a creature with deathtouch makes it's tap ability lethal. Vraskas static ability doesn't require damage to be in combat, so PP can tap to do damage to a player and still get a counter - Just an interesting note. You can morph him over Vraska's assassin token to tap to destroy planeswalkers.
Shadowspear
is just good and the lifelink and trample come in handy for getting poison or healing.
Ochran Assassin
can force all blockers on him, good for forcing an opening. Also a great morph/Cleave target. All the elves support Wren's Run being able to be played for 2 mana.
Maybe dropping Elves and Ochran for Vamp of the Dire Moon and Hooded Blightfang
might be better, but I like having the 3/3 body and the 1/2 (2/3 with revolt) on Narnam Renegade
.
Toying with the mana base a bit. I've added Ancient Ziggurat for now, but that obviously stops you from playing equipment or sorceries. Base Camp
might work but its too slow unless its your first land.
