Learn more Download For WindowsI was asked for meta answers, so... as requested, I've wasted no time (same day as requested) ruining some of the decks that are running the meta (for now). Goodbye Rogue decks, goodbye scute decks, and without further ado allow me to introduce y'all to Terror of the Meta.
Our only turn one play is shock. We plan on using his card on Lotus cobra, thieves guild enforcer, scute mob, and all the other cute stuff people think they are getting away with right now. Rarely will we ever use this to our opponents face unless it's to finish the game.
On turn two we have several plays to make up for our lack of one drops starting with four copies Robber of the Rich; with this guy we plan on starting the early beatdown and stealing our opponents game plan. We also run four copies of Kroxa as we'll have plenty to escape him later, he's powerful all by himself and I we have a Terror of the Peaks out, we're going to do six damage to face, or to a creature that threatens us. Escaping Kroxa also keep this rogue decks from filling our graveyard to pump their creatures. We also run two copies of fire prophecy to take care of an early ruin crab, it also doubles over as a way to get cards like Kaervek and storms wrath if we don't need the control elements they offer. We also run four copies of Bonecrusher Giant so we also have access to that many copies of stomp, which I typically use as a way to kill a scute, or to clear the way for Robber of the Rich so we can steal our opponents cards. Lastly, but certainly not least we runtwo copies of cinderclasm in the case that we were not able to kill the scute early, we'll just kill the 22 they now have with two mana and call it a day.
On turn three we have four copies of bonecrusher Giant, and I'm not opposed to casting it on turn three of it looks like we are going for a quick beatdown, but at this point I fin that we are typically still using burn to clear any early crud our opponent is using to clear the way for our Robber of the Rich, stomp is included in that burn.
On turn four we run also have several different options. We run one copy of kaervek to keep the scutes off the field, and to weaken the three thoughness creatures so all of our two damage burns can destroy them too. We run four copies of storm's wrath in the case our opponent is still getting cute with rogues and scutes. We also run four copies of Tectonic Giant, which I've said before, and I'll say again, is a criminally underused card; it allows us to tax our opponent with three life should they try and get cute with removal and it essentially attacks as a 6/4 for 3 damage guaranteed to make it through, or if we are looking for an answer or generally short on cards we can also use his second ability to dig for an answer in our library.
As our only five drop we run four copies of the deck's namesake; Terror of the Peaks. Not only does this card tax or opponents life total should they attempt removal, but if it does not get removed, it typically wins us the game through burn by playing creatures. If you have to clear the way for him to attack I suggest doing that, if not, take the burn to face.
We also run three copies of embercleave because, while not THE most powerful artifact it is a game winning artifact nonetheless that will give our creature double strike and trample and we've got the surprise element through its flash ability.
*I want to say here that there is no such thing as a deck that can maintain a 70%+ win rate before the Meta will shift to answer it, and when the meta can't answer a deck that presents that type of win rate, that is when we see bans (think oko and fires of invention). However, as of right now, this deck is an answer to the guys that make decks that get imported more that mine. Landfall isn't broken, the Meta just wasn't quite ready to answer it immediately. Once landfall win rates drop, we'll see less of this decks, same with the scute decks. At that point there will be another meta shift and more questions to answer; this is the beauty of variance and the reason why we play this wonderful game of strategy.*
Thanks for checking out my deck and my deck guide. I believe this deck is very competitive, but it's early in the new meta and still may need a tweak or two. If you like it, check out my other decks as I truly believe I have something for everyone. If I don't have something that fits your playstyle challenge me to create something for you. If there is a card, cards, or general deck theme you'd like to see in action, please do not hesitate to ask me, as I'd love to brew it up for you. I'm super excited to bring y'all even more fresh brews involving the new set and y'all should expect more this very day. Thank you all for all the support I've received since I began posting decks, and know that I'm not going anywhere. Of course, as always, good luck my friends!
