Description

4/32: Mono-Black - Liliana, Heretical Healer.

Aww yeah, the first concept of a "planeswalker tribal" for me. Liliana along with Sorin are the epitomes of what a black mana rooted "hero" is. So I made this deck as a tribute to Liliana, with Liliana's Contractimage and Demon tribal, you can tutor up a win, swing with demons or suicide yourself for a hilarious game end with Demonic Pactimage. Black is the first color I played magic with and its my second favorite color of the five. Tribal is always a tried and true way to play commander in my opinion without ruffling feathers about discussions of power-level or competitive edh.

Gameplan:
As stated previously Liliana's Contractimage is the most thematic win con the deck has to offer as well as player removal in the form of 6/6 demons. You'll generate value from sacrificing smaller creatures early to draw, tutor or reanimate so you have larger threats early on. Demons in Magic are notorious for being powerful and having set backs see Xathrid Demonimage and Abyssal Persecutorimage being the scariest to see in hand as a new black player. Though don't be afraid you'll be able to sacrifice them or destroy them yourself once you are done with them. Adding cards in from the maybeboard are reasonable upgrades to the deck that you can use or proxy to try out. Ideally you would want to run all 4 of Liliana's contract demons, but sadly Griselbrandimage is banned and Kothophed, Soul Hoarderimage can sometimes be more trouble than he's worth.

Pros:
-Board Presence, you will have a menacing presence and explosive plays from reanimation targets to landing a Liliana emblem to blow the game out of the water.
-Removal, black has plenty of removal and making a player sacrifice their voltron only creature is gonna have them hurting.
-Whatever It Takes, your aim is to win come hell or high water, you'll pay life, sacrifice your own board and tutor for the value to out pace the negatives your demons acrue each turn.

Cons:
-Sequencing, playing the right cards at the right time is a lynchpin of this commander and build, you don't want to be about to win and forget you still have an Abyssal Persecutorimage on the field.
-Tutors, in my experience the consistency is boring but is relatively on theme, may cause eyerolling at the table after game two.
-Too Close To The Sun, the potential to suicide with this deck is real, whether from Demonic Pactimage or Demonlord Belzenlokimage odds are you'll kill yourself and laugh with the table about it. Sorry Phage, the Untouchable but you're just too dang risky.

Remember to always have fun with your playgroup.
