Top Standard Decks - January 2024
Happy New Year of 2024! Are we heading to a brand new meta in Standard this year? Well, not today, of course. But yeah, many of the major changes to card choices over the last month seem to have an extended effect on the current meta. Makes it quite apparent that The Lost Caverns of Ixalan was mainly designed with a two-year rotation in mind, huh? But enough of that theory, let's get onto the play data within the last month.
Standard Tournament Meta - Top 8 Decks
Golgari seemed to have dropped a long way this time within Standard events, now currently at 4.49% of the meta. Curiously, Domain control managed to stabilize itself at 3rd and 4th places, with one version at 9.40%, and the other at 7.05% of the meta. The rest pretty much held their places intact, with the special mention of Boros aggro at 3.12% of the meta, which has been doing its rounds for the past two months.

Standard MTG Arena: Best of Three - Top 8 Decks
Domain's ranking gets even better in Standard BO3, because this time, it manages to climb all the way up to first place, albeit just at a very close 5.60% of the meta. Still, being able to slip past the usual trio of Golgari, Esper, and Mono-Red (all three at 4.80% of the meta this month, by the way) is quite an achievement for a deck that never really made it past 4th all these months with the same composition. Oh and, our wildcard Simic also managed to keep its place this month, like... at the exact 7th place (3.47% of the meta this month).

Standard MTG Arena: Best of One - Top 8 Decks
Yup, double Gruul baby. The first one, as expected, is Gruul Dinosaurs, who managed to inch one more place closer to the top, and is now currently at 2nd (6.51% of the meta). The second Gruul is pump aggro, sitting at 8th (1.68% of the meta). So yeah, Mono White Soldiers and Selesnya Enchantments are effectively pushed to the side this time by the stampeding deck of LCI. The one Orzhov entry we had only lasted a month unfortunately, now pushed all the way back to 12th.
