       Expansion Symbol

Expansion Code: SIR
Set Size: 302 total cards (includes 15 lands and 81 non-block cards)
Release Date: March 21, 2023
Card Legality: Historic, Explorer

Shadows Over Innistrad Remastered will feature a curated card selection from the classic expansions Shadow Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon. Among other things, card texts will be updated to provide a better play experience across different formats. This is specifically the case for Limited (Draft and Sealed), to which it will be slightly more focused on. Format support will also include Pioneer and Historic.

Like the previous two Arena-specific remastered sets (Kaladesh Remastered and Amonkhet Remastered), 81 non-block cards will be included in the boosteres that are relevant to the theme of expansions within the original Innistrad block. The legality of each of these cards will depend on which set they originally came from.

Set Mechanics

Some of the classic abilities introduced include:

Double-Faced Cards

Instead of splitting the card on one side, there are effectively two different cards featured on each side, with a transformation condition for each card.

Delirium

Delirium puts a card type twist on the original Threshold. Instead of a static card number, four card types (or more) are checked instead for additional effects and certain abilities to be used.

Investigate

This ability creates Clue tokens. These tokens are artifacts with the ability "Pay 2 colorless, sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card".

Emerge

Provides an alternative cost (for typically huge mana value cards) in the form of sacrificing a card of you intended mana value reduction.

Escalate

Allows modal cards more access to each option by paying a designated amount beyond the initial casting cost.

Meld

Combines two separate cards into a completely different permanent, no longer treated as the sum of its components. Before The Brothers' War even reintroduced the concept, Melded cards was already featured on the Innistrad block.

Madness

When discarded, these cards can then be cast for their Madness requirements. This often reduces the overall cost, although it is still considered as casting the spell. Thus, it can be countered.

Skulk

Creatures with this ability cannot be blocked by greatures with greater power value.
