Secret Lair: Extra Life 2020 Pre-Orders!

Kagros October 20, 2020 1 min

Hello everybody! Wizards has previewed a new Secret Lair today. Players can pre-order this product here once it's available! Below, we'll show the cards. This Secret Lair will be available from November 6 to November 9. All cards inside are FOIL and will cost $60USD. Wizards will also be donating $30USD for each Secret Lair purchased.

What's Inside?

All cards are foil. Here is what is included along with images:

Teferi's Protectionimage

Amulet of Vigorimage

Collected Companyimage

Consecrated Sphinximage

Financial Analysis

As mentioned above, the Secret Lair goes for $60. How do the cards inside hold up? Prices are pulled from Aether Hub's Market Pricelist!

Teferi's Protectionimage - $38

Amulet of Vigorimage - $16

Collected Companyimage - $13

Consecrated Sphinximage - $31

Total: ~$98

As of the writing for this article, the value of the cards inside this Secret Lair are worth about 50% more than the sticker price. Players who follow Secret Lair single prices know that the cards being foil doesn't really add anything to price and that these cards track more with the nonfoil prices.

In addition, none of these cards are under $10 and 3 out of 4 cards are played pretty heavily in EDH. Teferi's Protection is a staple in any deck that plays white; Consecrated Sphinx eats removal; Amulet of Vigor allows for some crazy sheningans. Collected Company doesn't see as much play in Commander, but is played in Pioneer and Modern.

If you need both Teferi's Protection and Consecrated Sphinx, this is a no-brainer buy. As long as you need 2 or 3 of these cards, this Secret Lair is great value for you. If you want to buy and keep these sealed for resale, this isn't a bad deal either as it has EDH staples inside which will keep the price of these at least at the sticker price. The only issue with this product is that players are preordering this several months in advance.

Ultimately, I believe this will be a popular Secret Lair, despite the current animosity and fatigue that players have towards Secret Lairs. There is no denying the value in this Secret Lair.

As a new Dad, man does this ever speak to me. Especially Teferi's Protection. I don't usually go in for Secret Lairs, but seeing as 1/2 the proceeds go to charity, I think this one's got me.
