Phyrexia: All Will Be One Combos Part 2 – More Quirky Fun
.jpg)
Okay, so the first list might not be as perfect as originally hoped. But, at least we are back at it again with newer ideas for one-two-punch combos featuring Phyrexia: All Will Be One cards. Remember, there’s no particular order in this list, so just try and see what you would find interesting.
Nahiri, the Unforgiving + Ogre-Head Helm
What’s the best way to dispose of something that would remove itself at the end of the turn anyway? By ramming it onto something, or sacrificing it to another effect. Better yet, the sac effect should be built-in, so consistency is better handled. Ogre-Head Helm provides this simple double benefit to Completed Nahiri’s ultimate. Even if the returned creature or equipment isn’t as much of a bomb as something like, Danitha, Benalia's Hope
, hey, at least you can use it immediately even if you paid Phyrexian mana.
Urabrask’s Forge + Churning Reservoir
(+ Filigree Sylex)
Urabrask's Forge turned out to be one of the most reliable cards in Limited due to its very consistent offensive buildup and resource generation strategy. Standard may be a harsher environment for it, but the idea still somewhat works, even better since Churning Reservoir
ticks the clock faster. But the finisher for this has to undoubtedly be the The Filigree Sylex
. Swing ‘till ten with Phyrexian Horror tokens, then fling the rest of your field oil counters for the remaining ten.
Do it even faster with a Mechanized Warfare Solphim, Mayhem Dominus!
(Detonating The Filigree Sylex then becomes an instant lethal move)
Mindsplice Apparatus + Twilight Cycle Cards
Mindsplice Apparatus is a pretty iffy card that does not provide immediate advantages, with multiple copies often bricking your hand. But, if you can maintain your strategic position turn it is cast, snowballing advantages it can provide can be amazing. Specifically, White Sun's Twilight
and Blue Sun's Twilight
can do wonders for this card, easily providing the five (seven total) mana required to reach their second effect. Easily more modal than Eiganjo Uprising
and more functional than Syncopate
, though both still benefit from a well-oiled Apparatus immensely.
Skrelv, Defector Mite + Glissa Sunslayer
Here’s a bit more on the boring side, but it works. Skrelv, Defector Mite can protect and assist a vast array of different creatures, though it is quite more synergistic with Glissa Sunslayer
. First, the opponent is only left with board wipes and edict effects to eliminate her. And second, you are more or less guaranteed to trigger her combat damage effect. The investment does seem a bit painful if you decide to both pay Phyrexian mana and trigger the first combat effect, but in most scenarios, it should be well worth it.
The Eternal Wanderer + Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines
(+ any ETB effect card)
The Eternal Wanderer does not restrict between artifacts and creatures, and you can select your own. As such, when combined with Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines
, you can potentially make any doubled ETB effect infinitely reusable. Want to keep drawing four cards with The Mightstone and Weakstone
? How about a double modal session with a single Aether Channeler
? The grindier you can force the game to be, the more you can unlock this combo's possibilities.
Jace, the Perfected Mind + Haughty Djinn
Another straightforward combo, although you have another alternative if the game has progressed quite a bit. The idea is simple. Use Phyrexian Jace’s ultimate, then swing with Haughty Djinn for a heavy aerial offensive. You can also use Jace, the Perfected Mind
’s -2 loyalty ability, though the potency will be split between the freshly drawn (cost-saved) instant and sorceries, and the ones that got milled.
Obligatory inclusion of Tolarian Terror within the same build, of course.
Archfiend of the Dross + Fateful Handoff
Janky, but quite hilarious if you can pull it off. Archfiend of the Dross immediately checks if the controller has zero oil counters, which then immediately causes a game loss. So by the third turn, if the game somehow still hasn’t progressed enough for you to go lethal using these monstrosities, just give the archfiend away to the other side. Needless to say, the combo requires Fateful Handoff
to have other targets like Tenacious Underdog
to improve consistency. But you can probably amp up its jank even further and mix Glissa Sunslayer
into the mix.
