Lost Caverns of Ixalan Precon Commanders Coming To MTGA For Brawl

The release of Lost Caverns of Ixalan is right around the corner, and it's been somewhat "business as usual" for an MTG release so far. However, a few exciting things are happening with LCI that we're seeing for the first time. For example, the commanders for the Lost Caverns of Ixalan commander precons are coming to MTG Arena to be used in Historic Brawl! Here's what you need to know.

Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commanders Coming To MTGA

Four legendary creatures from the Lost Caverns of Ixalan commander precons are coming to Arena for Historic Brawl players. Here's a look at exactly what WOTC is adding.

If you've read up on the commander decks for LCI, you may have noticed three of these are primary commanders, and one is secondary. The face commander for the simic deck, Hakbal of the Surging Soulimage, is not coming to Arena. Perhaps WOTC thought it would be just a bit too powerful. Whatever the reason, we're getting the backup commander, Xolatoyac, the Smiling Floodimage, instead.

How To Get The Cards

Let's say you want these for your Brawl deck... How do you go about getting them? Well, you can craft them using wildcards, like usual. No worries there. However, there is one other option. According to WOTC, "For the first time ever, if you play with the preconstructed Commander decks at your local WPN store, you'll also be eligible to receive these Commanders for your Brawl decks on MTG Arena!"

More info on how this works will be available later this month when we learn more about the Ixalan Commander Party event. So, keep your eyes out for that.

Conclusion

Honestly, I've never given much thought to the fact that the commanders for precons of standard legal sets should be added to Arena for Brawl. That said, now that it's been mentioned, it makes perfect sense. I'm wondering if they'll go back and add commanders from the other sets in standard at the moment as well. It certainly gives Brawl players some new options, so hopefully, they will continue to do this moving forward.

Will you be adding any of these new LCI commanders to your builds? Comment and let me know. I'm doing vampires with Clavileño, First of the Blessedimage!
