AetherHub Site Updates #2

AetherHub Updates
By: andreliverod - 22 Dec 2019

AetherHub Layout major upgrade
This is the third major overhaul to the interface. The top layout ads have been moved up to the top navigation on screens wider than 1600px, freeing up a lot of space. This allows for improved user experience and at the same time is beneficial for the site since it enables ad top ad views on all pages.

As a result of the new ad placement, the top navigation has an increased height, growing almost 10px. This is a high cost, especially taking into consideration that the menu is sticky, meaning it would take up 90px height all the time! To solve this we made a big change to how the top menu behaves on larger screens. When scrolling the menu will now shrink down to a height of only 36px! Way less than our old menu.

In addition to the menu change, the overall layout of the site has been changed, borders have been removed and the background has changed. This meant that all pages on the site needed an overhaul, all in all, the changes this week in total is above 500 in total.

We released the change earlier this week and have spent the last days tweaking and fixing bugs that had arisen. The last changes were a couple of hours ago where the top ad overlapped modals.

Frontpage redesign
Our front page has changed drastically, going from a 3 column design to two columns like the rest of the site. Shaving off some unnecessary stuff and putting up more stuff from our content creators.

In addition to the front page, several other pages have been changed and improved, too many to talk about in a single weekly update. An immense amount of work has been put into AetherHub over the last week.

Happy holidays!
Enjoy your time off with friends and family, while we do take some time off we will still be working. The holidays are a great time for us to double down on updates and work since we have time off from our full-time jobs. Starting 2020 one of us(me) will be working full time on the website! So expect even more stuff starting 2020. I also made a Patreon if you wish to support me and as a bonus for the second level I will give you an AetherHub Premium subscription!: patreon.com/andreliverod
