MTGA Tournament

June 11, 2019 Update. For various reasons I will not be running this tournament format any longer. I have never owned this format so anyone is free to run this format if they had enjoyed it. Good luck and have fun!

Prismatic rules:

1) 250 card deck, no side board.

2) Singleton, only 1 of each card, except for BASIC lands.

3) 20 card minimum of each color WURGB, multi-color cards cound as all colors for purposes of the minimum.

4) We are using STANDARD Banned list, ALSO Rat Colony and Persistent Petitioners are banned!

You want a deckbuilding challenge? You love casual formats and Arena only does singleton at certain times? Well keep a few of these decks handy in your Arena decks list and you can Direct Challenge your friends and participate in Aetherhub Tournament's.

Please spread the word about this format and maybe MTGArena will make this part of the actual rotation. I will provide a basic guide on deckbuilding and tips of mana base etc. Have fun and enjoy Arena in an unconventional way!

Deck building tips. I want to teach concepts that also work for 40 or 60 card decks but the 250 card singleton beast offers opportunities that I believe are essential to making an effective Prismatic deck.

1. Mana, fix and ramp. Green and Artifact sources are normally the best ways to manage this. Also lands that fetch or provide multiple colors I would recommend 90-110 lands probably 100 with maybe 7-15 others spells supporting this function.

2. Card draw, search. Blue, Black are the primary colors but use key word searches to sort and find these mechanics across all the colors.

3. Reactive answers. Ways to remove threats as well as hamper the opponents resources are essential. Look for cards with value and high flexibility.

4. Ways to win. pretty obvious and with good search you can find key win cons.

a. Combo, piecing together a plan within a 250 card shell can be potentially difficult but also fun and rewarding.

b. Weenies, swarms or high volume creature curve strategies are also more difficult in singleton but possible

c. Bombs. Pretty solid and I think one of the most consistent win cons but keep in mind the mana cost and quantity as these bombs can be tough to cast depending on your mana base and search functions to find the bombs.

I will seperate my current deck into these categories to provide an example of these concepts. Note that many cards with multiple functions will be in multiple categories, this sort of value is a great way to optimise your deck!

*Note* This is a guideline if you have better ideas or if you do not like my choices thats the beauty of this process please improve and master the format as you see fit! Have fun!

Sweet man. I've been working on getting a non-singleton 5 Color format called Type 5A going that's a throwback to the original 5 Color format from the late 90s. I've got a video about it here: https://youtu.be/26vqxH240y4
