Three Legends combine their forces to bring a red aggro deck to a new level!

Introduction

This is a fifth version of my red aggro deck, which splashes green for Samut, Vizier of Naktamun. In this version:

• Urabrask's Forge is back to the sideboard.
• Squee, Dubious Monarch is back to the main deck.

Format

• The deck is for the Standard format, as of October 2023, with Wilds of Eldraine being the last legal set.
• The deck is probably Tier 1 or Tier 1.5 caliber.
• The deck can be played in both Bo1 and Bo3.
• The deck is pretty fast, and thus it's suitable for quickly grinding a large number of wins in the MTG Arena ladder.

Overview

Strengths

• Almost as fast as a traditional red aggro deck.
• Access to enchantment removal, such as Boseiju, Who Endures.
• Samut, Vizier of Naktamun can draw you lots of cards while not sacrificing much damage.
• Samut, Vizier of Naktamun has vigilance, which might help against The Wandering Emperor and in defense.
• Samut, Vizier of Naktamun's first strike can be useful at times, too. It's especially nice with instants.
• All creatures in the deck can block.
• There are 9 creatures in the deck, which don't die to Path of Peril or Temporary Lockdown.
• All removal spells in the deck are instants.

Weaknesses

• Fast and slow lands may come into play tapped, slowing you down.
• Pain lands may cause damage, giving advantage to the opponent.
• Most creatures die to Cut Down and Gix's Command.
• Relatively high non-creature spell count may cause you sometimes to draw no or very few creatures. However, non-creature spells are required to boost Monastery Swiftspear and remove blockers.
• Only Goddric, Cloaked Reveler can fly among the creatures in the deck. However, flying creatures don't usually deal much damage, slowing you down.
• Witchstalker Frenzy cannot be cast by Bloodthirsty Adversary, because it costs 4 mana.

Strategy

Main Principles

No Flying Creatures, More Removal Spells

The deck has no flying creatures, except for Goddric, Cloaked Reveler, but it has several removal spells, such as Witchstalker Frenzy. Flying creatures usually don't deal much damage, even though they are hard to block. Instead, you are supposed to remove blockers with removal spells.

This way, the deck also works better when you are on the defensive, because you can remove attacking creatures with removal spells.

Main Deck Synergies

Charming Scoundrel and Goddric, Cloaked Reveler

Charming Scoundrel and her Wicked Role token count as two permanents, wherefore playing her while Goddric is in play will trigger his celebration ability.

Goddric, Cloaked Reveler and Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance

Channeling Sokenzan creates two permanents, and therefore it will cause Goddric's celebration ability to trigger.

Goddric, Cloaked Reveler and Squee, Dubious Monarch

Goblin tokens created by Squee help Goddric to turn into a dragon more easily.

Samut, Vizier of Naktamun and Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance

The tokens created by Sokenzan also trigger the card drawing ability of Samut, turning the channel land into a potential "draw two cards" effect.

Samut, Vizier of Naktamun and Squee, Dubious Monarch

The tokens generated by Squee trigger the card drawing ability of Samut, which makes up a nice combo.

The token creatures created by Urabrask's Forge help Goddric to turn into a dragon more easily.

Urabrask's Forge boosts Monastery Swiftspear when played, because it is a non-creature spell.

The token creatures generated by Urabrask's Forge trigger the card drawing ability of Samut.

Urabrask's Forge and Witchstalker Frenzy

The token creatures created by Urabrask's Forge help to bring the mana cost of Witchstalker Frenzy down.
